GRAMMAR EXPLANATION: We can use modal verbs “SHOULD” to give advice. Pay attention to the examples:

1. We “should” do something = It is a good thing to do or the right thing to do: Problem : I have some problems with my computer. Advice: You should take you computer to a computer technician.

2. We “shouldn’t” do something. It is not a good thing to do or it is not the right thing to do. Problem : I have sore eyes because I work long time in front of the computer. Advice : You shouldn’t work long time on the computer.

3. We use “think” and “should”. I think you should … Problem : The quality of the video on my computer is poor. Advice : I think you should get a better video card for your computer.

4. We use “I don’t think … should…”. I don’t think you should … Problem : I always shut down the computer directly, I don’t follow any steps to turn it off. Advice : I don’t think you should shut down the computer like that.

5. There is another expression to give advice it is “why don’t you …”. Problem : My computer is very slow for internet connection. Advice : Why don’t you buy a new computer?.

6. We use “too” to make our advice stronger, almost a warning. Problem : The glare of my computer is too bright. Advice : You should adjust your monitor. It’s too bright. II.
