The plot for this film involves 2 people from different social classes falling in love whilst on the Titanic boat. The total cost of this film was $200 million, including cast members such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The gross profit was $2.18 million. Mise-en-scene: The actors in this film have certain personalities as the character that they have to play. Leo’s character, Jack is very flirty towards Kate’s character, Rose. This shows the audience that it is a romantic film. The location of the film, set on a boat also shows romance however it also shows danger as there Is no escape when the boat sinks, causing this film to the genre of disaster. Codes and Conventions used well to show the genre of his film of a romantic and disaster film are the use of people falling in love, sex and hitting an ice berg which sinks the ship. Sound: Diegetic sound used in this film includes the narrative of Rose as an old lady speaking over scenes about her story on the Titanic which is dialogue. The use of non-diegetic sound is also used when the ship is sinking dramatic music starts to play to show the danger and disaster at this part of the film. Camera: Some camera angles in this film include bird’s eye view of rose hanging off the edge of the Titanic which shows the freezing cold water. This suggests that Rose is scared of the outcome of jumping off the ship. Another camera angle used is a close up and zooms out on the old roses eye. This shows her time on the titanic and the past for the audience to understand as she starts to speak about what happened.
