It provides the basis for counseling the individual employees by pointing out their strengths and weaknesses
It increases competitive spirit in employees
It enables management to decide training needs of organization which can be abstracted from merit rating of employee
It checks the effectiveness of recruiting, training and placement of employees and provides a basis for better job assignment when employees have been improperly placed
It guides and aids employees in their self improvement and makes possible a close follow up of their progress
It forces the supervisor to know their subordinates more closely.
