The Frater MCB protects wires and cables automatically against overload and short-circuits in domestic, commercial and industrial installations. In systems where proper earthing is provided the MCB provides additional protection by instantaneous interruption of the fault current, in case of faults, thereby eliminating the possibility of excessive touch voltages. Range : The Frater 6KA MCBis available in a comprehensive range from 0.5 to 100A in 1,2,3 & 4 pole versions. Standards : This range of MCB's conforms to the latest National and International standards - IEC60898. Modular Design: The MCBs are most compact with mounting depths up to 55mm and widths in multiples of 18mm and are part of the modular N system. They are hence totally compatible in modular width size to our range of RCCBs and can be enclosed in our low-profile DBs. Frater MCBs have contact tips made of special silver alloys ensuring higher life and maximum safely against contact welding. These contacts have low contact resistance resulting in reduced voltage drop and a very low watt loss leading to energy savings.

D C M C B U P TO 1 0 0 A M P S FRATER MCB for DC application have been developed by inhouse R & D facilities of the company to meet the stringent market requirements of DC circuits.

AVAILABILITY : DC MCBs are available in SP & D P configuration form 0.5 Amp to 100Amp in various voltages such as 12V, 24V, 48V, 60V, 110V, & 220Volts.

FEATURES: Dual tripping system-Overload through precisely calibrated bimetal and short circuit through electromagnetic coil. DC MCB incorporates a built in permanent magnet, which directs the arc into the arc quenching chamber. Free from nuisance tripping caused by vibrations. Time constant < 5ms. DC MCB offers a unique feature of knob assuming mid trip position in the event of fault. This enables clear visual indication of the faulty circuit. Housing of DC MCB is made up of fire retardant, anti-tracking and non-hygroscopic injection moulded thermoplastic polyester. Contacts are made up of silver inlaid copper, which ensure low resistance and longer life of circuit breaker.

1 0 0 A M P M C B & 1 2 5 A M P I S O L AT O R 100 Amp MCB & 125 Amp ISOLATOR ha s been designed keeping in mind the customer needs. The features are as under : Conforms to IEC 898-95. We have maintained standard thickness of 17.5mm, similar to lower rating of MCB (0.5 A to 63 A) to facilitate easy mounting in any Distribution Box without requiring any extra space or speical Distribution Boards. Box type terminal has been designed for easy termination of cable up to 50 mm2. Heavy duty screws have been provided for better tightening of contacts. Heavy duty ETP co pper terminals and extra thick silver inlaid contacts ensures low temperature rise and low watt loss.

FRATER MCB conform to the latest s tanda IEC Pub 898 (1995) in selected ratings. CE MARKING Fulfills the requirement of global standards.

ENERGY SAVING: The low power loss as stipulated in the IEC 898/95, has been taken care of in designing the FRATER MCB. low power loss figu res of FRATER MCB contributes significantly to the energy saving.

DIN RAIL MOUNTING: FRATER MCB's can be mounted on standard 35mm DIN Rail by snap action. No time wastage in installing and replacing the MCB. SHOCK PROOF: Finger and hand touch safe.

Tes ted as per IEC Pub 898 (1995) & IEC-6 0898-1, 2002 protection against electric shock.

Salient Features cont... HOUSING: The housing of FRATER MCB is injection moulded from special grade PBT as per international specifications. The housing and other moulded components are fire retardant, anti-tracking and non hygroscopic. The housing can with stand high temperature and is impact resistant.

CONTACTS: Contacts are made of special silver inlaid into copper strip, ensuring higher life and maximum safety against contact welding and erosion. These contacts have low contact resistance resulting in reduced watt loss.

CURRENT LIMITING ACTION: The high speed current limiting action ensures that the MCB operate before the full prospective fault current is allowed to develop. Under fault conditions, damage can be sustained to the installation and as sociated equipment due to the amount of energy that passes before the current is completely interrupted. The total energy Let through depends on th e value of current and the time for which it flows, and is denoted by the symbol I 2t. The high speed current limiting action of FRATER MCB ensures that the energy let through and any subsequent damage is minimized. This reduced LET TH ROUGH ENERGY (Class 3 as per BS EN 60898) assists greatly with both back-up and discrimination considerations.

OPERATING MECHANISM: FRATER MCB have a quick make & break Tri p Free Mechanism. In the even t of an over current or short circuit the MCB automatically interrupts all poles even if the MCB toggle is held in ON position, the handle always indicates the correct contact position.

MODERATE OVERLOAD CONDITION: Detection of moderate over load conditions is achieved by the use of a Bimetal Overload Relay, which deflects in response to the current passing through it. The Bimetal Relay moves against the trip bar releasing the trip mechanism.

Rated Current

SHORT CIRCUIT CONDITIONS: When the current flowing through the MCB reaches a predetermined level, the solenoid in Magnetic Coil directly pulls in the plunger, which release the trip mechanism.

PERFECT CONNECTIONS: The design of terminals makes the wiring easier. Combination box type terminals with combination head screws on both sides with deep serrations ensures sparkless and firm connections. The bi-connection facility simplifies connection in various application areas.

LOW WATT LOSS: FRATER MCBs have been designed to minimize energy loss through unique contact configuration & reduction of hot spots. Watt loss per pole in FRATER MCB is far lower than that specified in IEC : 60898

Auxiliary switch can be supplied factory fitted with any MCB (SP, SPN, DP, TP, TPN, FP) to give indication of 'ON' or 'OFF' position of MCB

DIN clip ensures electrical safety and high mechanical strength.

WORKING PRINCIPLE: FRATER MCB is a high fault capacity, thermal-magnetic type of breaker. It protects ag ainst overload and short circuit. Over load protection is achieved with a thermal bi-metal strip which gets heated in case of overload and in turn pushes the trip latch which releases the contacts and the operating knob is switched to Mid Tri p Position clearly indicating the fault. In case of short circuit the high fault cu rrent energizes the magnetic coil resulting in plunger striking the trip lever which ensures immediate release of tripping mechanism and the operating knob is switched to Mid Trip Position.

Introduction From large buildings to private homes, from industries to hospitals, electricity is essential. The extensive use of electricity in our daily life has become so common that we tend to forget that careless use of electricity can be hazardous. Every year, a large number of people are victims of accidents caused by negligent use of electricity, and a large number of industrial & domestic fires are attributed to "electrical faults". FRATER has introduced state-of-the-art FRATER RCCB model FI7 made in Europe, which is capable of detecting earth leakage current as soon as they appear and isolate the supply system.

Operational Principle

T

Load Earth

Wiring Scheme for RCCB 4 Pole

FRATER RCCB is a current operated device and is independent of line voltage conditions. This means that they provide protection even when there is voltage dip or the neutral conductor is interrupted. In a healthy system the vector sum of all currrents in phase and neutral is equal to zero. The device senses inbalance or residual currents in the system and disconnects supply system.

Consequently, the RCCB is suitable for “fault current/residual current protection” and “additional protection” within the the meaning of the applicable installation rules Mains connection at either side The 4-pole device can also be used for 3-pole connection. For this purpose use terminals 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. The 4-pole device can also be used for 2-pole connection. For this purpose use terminals N-N and 5-6. Pressing the test key “T” serves the only purpose of function testing the residual current circuit breaker (RCCB). This test does not make earthing resistance measurement (R E), or proper checking of the earth conductor condition redundant, which must be performed separately.
