COLORADO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES STATE CAPITOL DENVER 80203

May Statement on Supreme Court Ruling House Republican Leader Mike May, R-Parker, today issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a lower court ruling declaring Gov. Bill Ritter’s 2007 property tax increase as constitutional: “I am disappointed in the Supreme Court’s ruling. Although I respect the opinion of the court, I do not believe that the governor’s property tax is good policy. “Just because the Supreme Court says you can do something, does not mean you should. Finding a legalistic way to implement bad policy does not make good policy. “It is unfortunate that Coloradans across the state will be dealt higher taxes as a result of the governor’s policies.” ###
