The mission of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church is that by the Grace of God and the Guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will LEAD people to Christ, DISCIPLE people in Christ, and SERVE people for Christ!
THE VALUE OF OUR CHILDREN The season is changing and plans are underway for the Children’s Ministry this spring and summer. They are not plans to keep the children busy or a babysitting service, the plans are to engage our children in learning more about Christ. Bible Gang is ending for the school year, which means gears are being shifted to concentrate on VBS preparations. We will be meeting with volunteers to discuss their roles in a Godcentered, fun-filled week of praising Him. Ask how you can help out. We will be taking a group of children to Buffalo Mountain Camp for Kid’s Day for them to explore what the camp has to offer and make them feel more comfortable about staying away from home—not like our Family Camp Night where we pitch our tents inside the Fellowship Hall and do most of our activities inside—so this event is great for all ages. Summer also holds plans for a few extra special days for kids to come and learn more about God while having fun—like our Kids in the Kitchen day. More details will be given closer to time, but I can tell you it will be hands on and we will get to taste our creations.
EARLY BAZAAR RUMMAGE SALE FRI, MAY 29 8:00 AM—2:00 PM SAT, MAY 30 8:00 AM—12:00 PM OLD EDUCATION WING, 2ND FLOOR INVITE YOUR NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS, AND FAMILY! You have so generously donated items for our Bazaar Rummage Sale that our storage room is overflowing. Therefore, we are having an early sale in order to make room for additional items that we expect to receive before October. If you have items you would like to donate for this sale, please price them and bring them to the 2nd floor of the “Old Education Wing” (first door on the left after exiting the elevator), by Wednesday, May 27. If there is no one in the Volunteer Office to let you in the room, just leave the items in front of the door.
We, the church, have to reach out to the community and invite them to get involved in what God is doing. It takes each of us caring enough to bring others into the fellowship going on at CHUMC. The children are our future and with them comes their parents.
Remember items should be in good condition and sell for at least 50 cents.
Our task is not to get people to show up to an event. Rather, our task is to get people to see the glory of Jesus Christ. Our events are fun, but we want families to feel welcomed and know that we are a church that values them and their children. What we are looking for is Christ-likeness in every member of the body.—Traci Horne, Director of Programs & Children
If you have large items to donate, Don Lee will be glad to transport them to the church for you. Call 239-5492 or 612-1244.

THOUGHTS ON PRAYER
Rhea Starnes
When I was in school I learned various tools to help me do better in subjects like spelling. Do you remember "i before e except after c and when it says "a" as in neighbor and weigh?' Well I have also found that I sometimes need tools in my spiritual life to help me remember who is in charge. I want to share one tool with you today. When I pray I use A.C.T.S.

A $5.00 donation for shipping is to accompany each kit. Please make your check payable to CHUMC and designated Zimbabwe. Attach check to the outside of the kit—DO NOT PUT ANY MONEY IN THE BAG. Let’s do our part to reach the Kingsport District goal of 300 kits!
