Matchbox Holder Spectrum Stained Glass Project Series by Carolyn Kyle ®
This handy match dispenser camouflages a large box of stick matches. Hang it by the wood stove or fireplace for great convenience with a decorator touch. Choose the plain or floral version. The plain one will be most attractive in heavily streaked or textured glass. For the floral one, we suggest bright primary colors for a Pennsylvania Dutch look. Or try earthy brown and gold for a Country look.
Plain – Use solid line only Floral – Use dotted lines and solid line.

Cut all pieces. For floral holder, foil interior lines of front and back sections with 3/16" or 7/32" foil. Solder front and back. Wrap the edges of completed sections and all other glass pieces with 3/8" foil. Place back section face up on table. For construction purposes, this will be considered the base upon which all pieces will be built, as in basic box construction. Place the two side pieces and “bottom” piece on base. (Figure 1) Fasten together well with masking tape. Tack solder, remove tape, then completely solder all of box’s interior lines. Tape front and front bin to box. Tack solder, remove tape. Completely solder all remaining exposed foil, using an ample amount of solder. (Figure 2) The floral holder hangs from open hole at top. To hang plain holder, loop a piece of #20 or heavier copper wire and solder in place. (Figure 3) Tin wire to match solder. Clean. Patina if desired. Remove outer sleeve from large box of wooden matches. Insert inner box with matches in place into holder. Matches will dispense from below as needed.
