Master Class Weekend
Technique and Conditioning with Kelsey Nelson-Lack Kelsey has over 25 years of dance experience ranging from major motion pictures to teaching students all across the country and judging for several prestigious dance competitions within the United States. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dance Management from Oklahoma City University. Some of Kelsey's professional performing credits include Anchorman II: The Legend Continues, Rock of Ages (major motion picture), Million Dollar Arm, HSN, Royal Caribbean International, Feld Entertainment/Feld Motor Sports, Cirque Productions, Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens, Hardrive Inc., Event Show Productions, D Squared Productions, Cirque USA, and many more. Along with performing, Kelsey has a passion for providing quality instruction and choreography. She has had the opportunity to continually develop both her teaching and choreography portfolio by working with St. John's University, Wake Forest University, McKendree University, University of South Florida, New Bern High School (NC), Father Lopez High School (FL), Barron Collier High School (FL), Oviedo High School (FL), Victoria's School of Dance, USA Ambassador Pageant, Cirque USA, BookAFlashMob.com, Universal Dance Association and many more local studios in Florida. Kelsey has been honored to be a Master Instructor for both Universal Dance Association and Dance Team Union in the past few years. You can find Kelsey on the judging panel of several di erent national competitions and as a member of Impact Dance Adjudicators. She has had the honor of judging several di erent National Finals for Universal Dance Association and USASF. She is always working to provide the most beneficial and valuable critiques possible to help both students and teachers alike grow and develop. Her passion for dance spreads wide and far and is always looking for new ways to continue to expand her wings in the entertainment and education industry.
Contemporary with Travis Prokop Travis received his B.F.A from West Texas A&M and his M.F.A. from Sam Houston State University. He is currently Assistant Professor of Dance at Lamar University and company member of Hope Stone Dance in Houston. Originally from New Mexico, Travis has worked and performed as dance captain for TEXAS: The Outdoor Musical. He has danced many roles as a principal dancer for Lone Star Ballet in Amarillo and studied Jiri Kylian, GaGa, and Batsheva repertory in Lucca, Italy. Travis has performed at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D. C. Travis’ choreographic works have been produced at The Dance Gallery Festival New York, and the American College Dance Association. He has choreographed numerous theater and musical theater productions including Trojan Women and CHICAGO. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University and Southern Methodist University.
Hip Hop with Christopher Brown Chris is a choreographer/dancer from Houston, TX . In his earlier years Chris won multiple MA Dance titles with his high school dance team, Inertia, who was featured in People Magazine in 2004. Chris made his dancing debut in 2005 as a principal male dancer with 3 time platinum selling recording artist Frankie J. Who he toured internationally with for 3 years. He is an alumni member of the Houston Rockets Launch Crew that he lead choreographed & performed with for 4 years. He's performed with artist's like Beyoncé, Kanye West, Juicy J, T-Pain and more.
Jazz with Brittani Burress Brittani began dancing at the age of 2 where she trained under the direction of Lori Guidry at Taylor’s Dance Studio in Nederland, TX. She is a former member of the Southeast Texas Ballet Company and o cer of the Port Neches-Groves Dance Team. Brittani was a two-time MA dance solo winner. She began college at Sam Houston State University where she was given opportunities to dance in the Miss Texas America Pageant while training in the dance department. In 2002 she became a member of the award winning Orange Pride Dance Team. She was the captain from 2003- 2005 where she led the team to a National victory in 2005. Brittani graduated in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/ Public Relations with a minor in Mass Communications. Brittani has trained at the Broadway Dance Center and Edge Performing Arts in Los Angeles. She has choreographed for the Orange Pride Dance Team, Taylor Dance Studio, and other dance groups in the surrounding areas.
Ballet with Lindsay Cortner Lindsay Cortner began her formal dance training with Beth Gulledge Brown and Carolyn Gulledge in her teens. She moved to New York to attend the Fordham/Ailey BFA program under Ana Marie Forsythe, Tracey Inman, and Milton Myers, to name a few, and she was invited to perform a work by Sidra Bell during her time at Ailey. When Lindsay moved back to Houston, she became a founding member of Uptown Dance Company, with whom she performed for eight seasons in works by Max Stone, Celia Marta, Tina Kay Bonstedt, and SLAM, among others. She worked with Earthen Vessels as a guest artist for two seasons, performing Sandra Organ Solis’s choreography, and spent one season performing with Psophonia. Lindsay now freelances in the Houston area. She has performed company and guest roles with Transitory Sound and Movement Collective, Frame Dance Productions, METdance, Hope Stone, Pilot Dance Project, and Juxtapose Dance Collective, and has also worked with independent choreographers like Jennifer Mabus, Ashley Horn, Emily Roy Sayre, Kate Rash, Adam Castaneda, Dwain Travis, and Rebecca French. Lindsay continues to train in various techniques and has recently studied with Shannon Gillen of Vim Vigor, Maxine Doyle of Punch Drunk, Joy Davis (Countertechnique), and Nick Pupillo of Visceral Dance Chicago. Lindsay is a certified Forrest Yoga instructor, and has been teaching ballet, Horton, and contemporary techniques for the last ten years.
