President’s Message Thank you Macca for stepping forward at the AGM to fill the position of Secretary on the Executive Committee, and also welcome aboard Paul and Neil to the positions of Ordinary members on the Management Committee. This year, my aim is to focus on continuous improvement of the Association, to keep pace with technology and the wheels turning for smoother running of our U3A. There is still a lot of maintenance work to be done on the Margaret Street Hall and as we work together to make it happen, this will all be done as soon as possible. I have to say, I am very happy with the progress that has been made to date and, as I have said, will work hard so it continues throughout the year. Thank you to everyone in helping to make our U3A a successful group. Marvin Summers (President)

Why not display your Artwork in Gallery Walk at Australia Fair. An Artists’ Catalogue is available to list details of each piece and you can name your price.
Members' Name Badges In accordance with U3A’s By-Laws Clause 5.6, all Members are reminded that it is compulsory to wear your Members name Badge at all classes. If the style of class you may be attending, for example, Yoga, does not lend itself to physically wear your name Badge, you must still have it with you to produce if asked to prove you are a Financial Member.
A reminder to those who have not yet had their badges stamped for 2019 must come into the office to have this done:
Elaine noticed this beautiful painting in Gallery Walk and had to have it.
A $2.00 fee will be charged to those who have lost their 2018 badge and require a replacement to cover 2019. Management Committee
It is a piece painted by Mal Wilkshire (deceased) who gave it to the Association to put on display quite some time ago. His legacy has gone to a good home and Elaine made a generous donation to go to the Association in memory of Mal Wilkshire.

Calling for Success Stories
We are looking for more success stories. Our Patron, Councillor Dawn Crichlow OAM, is interested in how many U3A Members have a story to tell and how U3A has helped them recover from any serious illness and get back into enjoying life. We already have three Members who have been in touch and consented to do a story - if you would like to participate, please
contact either the President or Alice Fairley. U3A Gold Coast Incorporated – MARCH news issued 1 Apriil 2019 - Page 5 of 8
