Manifesto For Amanda Lee

MANIFESTO Introduction Hi, I’m Amanda Lee from Magdalene College studying Engineering, and I’m running for the position ‘Events Officer’.

General Aim I see joining the CUMSA committee as an opportunity to serve and make a difference to CUMSA and members of CUMSA, while I’m a student in Cambridge. I hope to provide more opportunities for members to make more friends and to bond with one another, so that they will feel less lonely in a foreign land. I also hope that members will see CUMSA events as one of their ways to relax and have fun amidst their hectic schedules in Cambridge.

Plans

Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations e.g. Liaising with Singaporean/Malaysian societies in London to have a mass CNY celebration on a weekend (so that people in Cambridge are able to participate) e.g. Baking CNY goodiesss + (In Cambridge) Mass steamboat/ CNY-esque dinner + Firecrackers-/ sparklers-fun after dinner in the spirit of CNY!

CUMSA Punting

...fill River Cam with CUMSA members (on the punt hopefully; so avoid punting with evil friends) ...because punting is fun ...and even more fun with more people!

Day trips out of Cambridge e.g. to Oxford/ London/ other nice places near Cambridge Probably during Michaelmas term when the schedule is more easy on us Can be like a free-and-easy tour after reaching the destination (depending on personal preference) (Could save on transport costs when travelling in big groups)

Formals e.g. Separate formals for Year 1s, Year 2s, Year 3s, etc. e.g. More formals (once or twice a term)
