LESSON PLAN IN PHILIPPINE POLITICS AND GOVERNANCE for GRADE 12 I.

OBJECTIVES: A. Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the historical background of Philippine democratic politics, the executive, the judiciary and decentralization and local governance. B. Performance Standard: The Learners shall be able to explain the roles of different political institution. C. Learning Competency: Learners are expected to explain the roles and power of the Philippine President.

HUMSS_PG12-Ih-24 Specific Objective: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: a. explain on their own words the four powers of the Philippine President b. perform the four powers of the Philippine President c. value the four powers of the Philippine President II.

SUBJECT MATTER: A. Topic: Powers of the Philippine President B. References: Online Source: Article VII: Executive Department ~ Scire Licet (scire-licet.blogspot.com/2009/12/article-vii-executive-department.html/?m=1); The 1987 Philippine Constitution by Hector S. De Leon (Article VII pp 23-24) C. Materials: ICT for PPT (Slide Presentation); rolled papers; Manila Papers; Permanent Marker D. Value Focus: Cooperation of every student to easily cope-up the lesson

PROCEDURE: A. Preliminary:  Greetings and Opening Prayer  Cleanliness and Orderliness  Checking of Attendance  Review of the Past lesson o Form of government in the pre-colonial period o Ruler of Barangay o Roles/powers of Datu  Motivation o The teacher shows a picture of Spiderman and asks the students about his power. o The teacher shows another picture, this time image President Duterte and ask students to mention his powers as President. B. Developmental Activities:  Lesson Proper: o Slide presentation showing the four powers of the Philippine President o Let the students read each description of the powers as mentioned in Article VII of the Philippine Constitution

 Group Activity: o Students will be grouped into 4 and each group will discuss/brainstorm to come up with their own explanation on the power of President they have picked. o The leader of each group will present their output to the class. o Group performance will be rated based on a rubric

APPLICATION: Group Activity:  Same group will randomly pick a scenario in a rolled paper  Scenarios from their family at home and interpret in the class through paint me a picture  Other group will guess which power of the Philippine President being shown/depict in the picture. D. GENERALIZATION:  The teacher will ask atleast 2 students to explain the phrase “with great powers comes with great responsibility. E. EVALUATION: Instruction: In a ¼ sheet of paper, write T if statement is True and F if statement is False. 1. President has the power to appoint his Cabinet Secretaries. 2. As commander-in-chief, the President has the power to direct the Armed Forces of the Philippines. 3. The President is the spokesperson of the external affairs of the country. 4. The President has the power to remove appointed non-career service officials from their office. 5. “With great power comes smaller responsibility”
