Mr. Lowery 71 Whitworth Way Wilstead Beds MK45 3EF 24th November 2009 Dear Mr. Lowery Further to my site visit today. Report of my findings: The garage door (Hormann 7070 EPU 40) has been fitted well and according to the manufacturers’ instructions, the automation is also fitted to the same standard. The garage floor on the RHS has been lowered by approximately 5/6 mm to allow the door frame to sit level. The floor where it meets the front walls is out of level by approximately 5/8mm right to left. The piers are out of level by approximately 5/8mm this is not relevant as the door is a standard back fix (fitted to the rear of the brick work opening). • It was pointed out to me by yourself (Mr. Lowery) that once the door is in a closed position, light it still visible along the uprights of the frame and a draft can be felt through the joints of the sectional panels. Mr. Lowery demonstrated the lack of seal by passing a piece of paper through the joint of the sectional panels. • The reason for light penetrating through is due to the way the door is manufactured and assembled, where one panel meets the next panel light can penetrate through the external rubber seal (left and right hand sides) this is due to the way the panel is formed. •

There is a rubber strip fitted along each of the sectional panels, this would appear to be for the purpose of sealing one panel against its adjoining panel reducing any possible drought. (NOTE:

This door, although automated closes via gravity and is in no way forced down by the automation, by applying pressure to the top of the garage door downwards, the seal is achieved. It may be possible to lower the adjacent panel by the connecting hinges. • Bottom rubber seal – although the rubber makes contact with the floor there is insufficient weight on it to create an adequate seal. Again, once downward pressure is applied a full seal is achieved. • The door and automation although fitted to an acceptable standard, there is minimal clearance between the door, automation and roof joists, (creating the tightest possible fit and the maximum amount of drive through height clearance) this allows only horizontal push for the garage door, enabling it to open and close. However, if a size 7066 had been fitted this would allow for a degree of vertical force to be applied possibly creating a better seal. In my professional opinion Hormann garage doors produce one of the best available products in sectional garage doors, both in engineering and design. I am unaware of any other company producing a sectional garage door to a standard that exceeds Hormann. Yours Sincerely

Mr. Andy McCulloch
