What’s It Feel Like To Be a Ghost?

…Then you said a little more about your dreams like that was my call “If you would only listen” Bypassed everything and went straight for the neck I study We’re studied Up nightly Dragged you out into the streets before you buckled at the knees and said “What’s it feel like to be a ghost?” Louder, say it louder now… “What’s it feel like to be a ghost?” Quick just not quite painless it sits perched on your arms tacky and irrelevant a permanent reminder that, oh Christ, I have no idea what I am doing… I said, “So look closely, there might be something you like” “What was it like?” I look so close but it’s been months and who knows if I will get this right… Oh and I… I study Up nightly… Dragged you out and into the streets before you buckled at your knees… A simple question Asked three times fast “Are you up? Are you up for? Are you up for this?”

Liar (It Takes One To Know One)

All our secrets they are tailored trouble draped loose now around your hips Your spotless instincts are valid We co-exist We’ve got twenty-six days to work with We’ve got twenty-six days to see what all gets done. I’m an addict for dramatics, I confuse the two for love “You can’t tell me that you don’t beg…” Liar, liar If we’re keeping score Then we’re all choir boys at best (Intrusive and arrogant) Then back on that island that you swear by Still barely can afford (It moves, it moves, it moves) It remains a question of “How long will this hold?” “Is it any different now that we are…” “Oh, don’t you go there, not here, not now” Not here Not now…. Liar, Liar, you silly little boy… It takes one to know one. Besides it’s just like you said… “We’re all choir boys at best.”

MakeDamnSure

I just want to break you down so badly… You’ve got this new head filled up with smoke I got my veins all tangled close To those jukebox bars you frequent They’re the safest place to hide A long night spent with your most obvious weakness You start shaking at the thought You are everything I want Because you are everything I’m not We lay together Just not too close How close is close enough? In the morning My inarticulate Store bought Hangover hobby kit talks… It says you… oh you… You are so cool (I trip over everything you say) Scissor shaped across the bed You are red… (Violent red) You hollow out my hungry eyes I bite my tongue… I take my time… And… I’m going to make damn sure that you can’t ever leave You won’t ever get too far from me You won’t ever get too far from me You won’t ever get too far from me You won’t ever get too far from me You won’t ever get too far…

Up Against (Blackout)

So this is what we’re up against, Face it, This is what we’re up against. Waiting and waiting Every minute is a minute away… Regrets always work, However, Excuses are better A practical exchange A trade for the truth You know it never held up… Pretend that it still could now This is what we’re up against Waiting and waiting Every minute is a minute away Turning the clocks back We’re turning our clocks back But never ourselves Prioritizing… “Go with the flow kid, Just relax.” Just relax. You never feel the jetlag unless you’re trying to fit in So let’s pretend that we still could now… Every minute is a minute away… Less is more except when it comes to mistakes “How long is long?” That depends… “How long it takes.” The years Not months Not days Your blackout memory This is what we’re up against… Face it, This is what we’re up against.

My Blue Heaven

Two sides twist and then collide You’re calling off the guards I am coming through Adulteress conditioned to a spin cycled submission… “You know, sometimes it just feels better to give in” It felt better to give in. But it’s all too familiar And it happens all the time All the cards begin to stack up Twisting heartache into fine little pieces that avoid an awful crime Still it’s you I can’t deny… A dull heat rises from the sheets See, I’m both A patient boy… and a jealous man Am I coming through? My double standardized suspicion is remedied, Oh remedy, My blue heaven My sweet surrender My blue heaven (Take two of these then call me in the morning) Most times it’s just easier to give in. I was easier to give in. So that’s just what I did and now as We swing and we sway This tiny voice in my head starts to sing “You’re safe child, you are safe.” You’re safe child, you are… Is this all too familiar? Does it happen all the time? I’m just asking you to hear me... Could you please, Just once, Just hear me… More than anything you wanted to be right… You want more than anything to be right Still it’s you…

Twenty-Twenty Surgery

I’ll take with me every single luxury when I leave you can count on me for that and nothing more. The view from this side’s not what I thought it’d be Promised something different we close our eyes and let go of the wheel (…just …let …go.) Still, all young children listen because they’ve got so much to learn (turn it in, tune out) We’ll get you home in time to make the rent… (…Should be for free for being me) It’s not the quantity or the quality that bothers me …It’s the means Twenty-twenty surgery We’re offering, For this one time only, Twenty-twenty surgery for cheap…. As the dollar signs doll up a picture perfect point of view for You are so, So sensitive… Me, I am a machine…

Spin

That look was priceless (Oh please don’t let me get carried away) I’ve seen it before and it still suits you the same You catch on quick as the cynics stop before they give the same review Someone told me this is where the party is… “Are you coming home?” The abortion that you had, It left you clinically dead and made it all that much easier to lie Said, “it’s nothing that I’m proud of ” Well, It’s nothing that I‘m proud of This is phase one This is a preview So pay attention We’re making an example out of you I heard this is where the party is... “Are you coming home?” You had your chance Open arms reject assuming hands… We’re making an example out of you… So don’t act like you’re the first one I treat it like disease Sure it’s rough around the edges But I’m the only thing you see. Don’t act like you can’t see me darling, I’m coming in. Don’t act like you don’t see me… Coming… listen, You had your chance Now spin, Spin ‘sugar’ spin….

Divine Intervention

Despondent Distracted You’re vicious and romantic These are a few of my favorite things All of those flavors and this is what you choose Past the blues and on to something new Something real And make it timeless An act of god Nothing less will be accepted If you’re calling me out Then count me out We’re stubborn and melodramatic A real class act See, I know a few of your favorite things And at five in the morning It all comes up Pouring out the same way in “I need something real, something timeless An act of god and nothing less will be accepted” So if you’re calling me out Then count me out…

Miami

The whole truth And nothing but the truth… “In the morning it’s a different story, understand” The whole truth Is nothing but a good excuse for (Stop me if you’ve heard this one before) “So long as you don’t torture me with your past” Oh please, Let’s be honest, Sideways blinders Allow reminders to stay Constant, unreluctant and consistently subject to change... There is no way around them… Miami, Miami, Miami, Every hour on the hour… (Stop me if you’ve heard this one before) “Whoever I was then I can’t ever be again.” “You have to, you just have to trust me” The terror held in wedding bells The comfort in “there’s no one else” The truth be told (The whole truth…) I’m never going to know… The faith you’ve found I’ve never felt.

Error: Operator

There’s been an accident, there’s been an accident Breathe in then out calm down Calm down Breathe in… Then out… Count backwards from ten “Murder, Oh murder, Where have you been? Would you, Oh could you, Would you do it again?” Sometimes I swear I can see straight through you Concentrate. Concentrate. Control. Concentrate. This doesn’t feel like anything. We Can’t Go Back.

I’ll Let You Live

The first degree was a riot You were making sure My lesson’s learned I’m not ashamed but I’m trying I’ve come to expect the standards you have set… Tell me just how dangerous is second best You’ve settled for less and I’m sure you’ll settle again You’ll settle for less. There’s no stopping me I’m gutting you out. There’s no stopping this… The closer I look is the further that you get. Already stubborn skin thickens In a valiant attempt to understand So understand, There’s no stopping this I’m gutting you out There’s no stopping me. I got tired of waiting, waiting, and I’m still waiting… When the guilt subsides the night begins... When the guilt subsides The night begins. Came as a gift from a good friend That disapproves But understands That you represent And actively encourage All of my worst habits They all are proof That we’re both capable of the most terrible things “Don’t test me” There’s no stopping this I’m gutting you out I know it’s not what you deserve. Still, there’s no stopping me… I’m gutting you out.

Taking Back Sunday embarked on a magical journey in the fall of 2005. It started on August thirty-first to be exact... As a commercial jetliner slows over a sunny foreign tarmac, Ed Reyes, Fred Mascherino, Matt Rubano, Mark O'Connell and Adam Lazzara make the best of the 6-inch porthole they are traveling behind, using it to study their new surroundings. It is here in Los Angeles, California that they are to meet with a mythological being, rarely seen in public and spoken of only in whispers. This man, this entity, possesses producing powers beyond human comprehension. His name, his name is…Eric Valentine. They were to meet Mr. Valentine in the heart of Hollywood at a place he calls Barefoot Recording, his base of operations, his home away from home. This is where Louder Now would come to life.
