Living in the Power of the Spirit The verb tense in v 16 for “live by the spirit”, translates as “go on living”. The Holy Spirit is a person, possessing and exhibiting the attributes and actions of a person. • He has a mind. • He shows feelings. • He has a will. Hebrews 10:29 • He gives gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 God’s ultimate goal in our lives is Christ-likeness, and what God expects He also empowers us to achieve. Through the Holy Spirit, God has given us the power of Christlikeness. If we are controlled (filled) with the Holy Spirit, the overflow is most pleasant and desirable. The secret is in the filling. Scripture reveals that redeemed humankind possess three enemies: 1. The World. 1 John 2:15-17 2. The devil. 1 Peter 5:8 3. The sinful nature. Galatians 5:19 The bottom line is that we can be filled with our natural self or the Holy Spirit, we have a choice. It is a choice we have to make daily!
