Little Red Riding Hood [ACT I] [SCENE I] [Little Red Riding Hood’s House.] There was a girl who lived in a village near the forest. Whenever she went out, she wore a red riding cloak, so everyone in the village called her Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood: Hey, I plan on visiting my Grandma this evening. It’s been a while since I’ve seen her. Mother: That’s an astounding* idea! It has been a very long time sweetie. Your grandmother must be so anxious to chat with you. She really wants to ask you about your love life. Little Red Riding Hood: I think I am going to prepare a basket with pie and wine for us to enjoy while we keep each other company. Mother: Be sure to go straight to your Grandma’s house. Don’t dawdle* along the way and do yourself a favor and don’t speak to strangers! There are a lot of perverts in the forest, so you be careful. Little Red Riding Hood: Don’t worry mother, I’ll be most careful. I know how to spot a pervert when I see one. Oh, have you seen my red cloak by any chance? Mother: Yes, its hanging on the coat rack near the door.

5

Little Red Riding Hood: Thank you! Okay, goodbye Mom. I will see you when I get back later on tonight. Mother: Okay, but please be careful. I cannot stress enough how dangerous it is out in the woods sweetheart. Especially when you’re a girl travelling alone. Little Red Riding Hood: I will! Bye. Stop being over protective, I’m a big girl who can handle myself. Little Red Riding Hood hugged her mother goodbye and was on her way to her grandmother’s house. Little Red Riding Hood noticed some lovely flowers and began to hunt for more. Little Red Riding Hood: Wow, these flowers are beautiful! Oh my, what unusual patterns these butterflies have. Please don’t fly away! She completely ignored the promise she made her mother and followed some unusual colored butterflies flying above her.

Little Red Riding Hood [ACT II] [SCENE I] [The Forest.] Little Red Riding Hood was very unfocused, so she didn’t notice a dark shadow approaching her out of nowhere in the dark forest behind her. Wolf: What are you doing out her all alone, little girl? Little Red Riding Hood: I’m on my way to see my Grandma who lives through the forest, near the brook*. Wolf: That sounds like fun. Maybe I can join you and we can find somewhere quiet in the forest and have some fun, if you know what I mean. Little Red Riding Hood: I will! I didn’t even realize how late it was getting. No thanks, I don’t like being in dark spaces with people I don’t know well. Wolf: Well, you better hurry along child, your grandmother is waiting on you. IF you stay any loner I’ll escort you myself. Little Red Riding Hood: I am heading straight there, right now. Goodbye.

7

Little Red Riding Hood excused herself and began to rush down the path to her grandmother’s house. The wolf decided to take a shortcut to the grandmother’s house. Wolf: I must beat her there! I want to show how what wolves are packing.

8

Little Red Riding Hood [ACT II] [SCENE II] [The grandmother’s house.] The wolf, a little out of breath form running, arrived at the grandmother’s house. Wolf: Ah yes! I have beat the girl here. I must get to her grandmother before she does. Maybe I can have fun with the grandmother first. The wolf knocked lightly at the door. Grandmother: Oh, thank goodness you’re here! I began to get worried sick and thought something horrible had happened to you in the forest. Wolf: I wandered for a bit, but quickly realized how late it was getting. I ran here as fast as I could. Open the door old lady. Grandmother: Please do come on in dear. Oh, have you gotten a bit rude my dear. Wolf: Thank you, I think I will for a quick snack! If I do say so myself, you are looking quite tasty! I could have you all day lady. Grandmother: What was that dear?

9

Wolf: I said, “I am going to eat you!” and then swallow you! I like to have fun with my prey first. As the wolf entered, he gobbled up the grandmother in one bite. The wolf made his way through the grandmother’s wardrobe, until he found something he liked. Wolf: What shall I change in to so the little girl won’t recognize me right away? Ah, this robe is perfect and this frilly* cap will match well with my gown. Ooh, I should spray myself with some of her perfume! She must not smell her grandmother’s sweat on me, just her natural scent. A few minutes later, Little Red Riding Hood arrived at the front door of her grandmother’s house. Little Red Riding Hood: Finally, I made it to her house. I can’t wait to see my grandmother. Little Red Riding Hood knocked on her grandmother’s front door. Wolf: Oh, she’s finally here! I must go hide in the under the covers of her grandmother’s bed. I shall cover most my face, so she doesn’t recognize me. The wolf jumped into the grandmother’s bed and pulled the covers over his nose. Wolf: “Who is it?” he yelled. Little Red Riding Hood: It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood! Wolf: Oh, what a lovely surprise! Do come in, my dear.

10

Little Red Riding Hood [ACT III] [SCENE I] [The grandmother’s room.] When Little Red Riding Hood entered the little cottage*, she could scarcely recognize her grandmother. Little Red Riding Hood: Grandma! Your voice sounds so odd. Is something the matter? Wolf: Oh, I just have a touch of a cold sweetheart. I’ve had stuff down my throat lately. Little Red Riding Hood: But Grandma! What big ears you have. Wolf: The better to hear you with, my dear. I love hearing you whimper and scream for me. Little Red Riding Hood: But Grandma! What huge eyes you have. Wolf: The better to see you with, my dear. All of you. Every part of your body. Little Red Riding Hood: But Grandma! What big teeth you have. Wolf: The better to eat you with, my dear! And then enjoy a snack. Little Red Riding Hood: Wait what was that you just said?

11

Wolf: I said that I am going to eat you little girl! This is why you should never talk to strangers; nonetheless, tell them where you’re going! The wolf leapt out of bed and began to chase Little Red Riding Hood. His eyes showing he will be pleased one way or another. Little Red Riding Hood: Wait you’re not my grandmother! Oh my goodness, please don’t eat me! A little too late, Little Red Riding Hood realized that the person in the bed was not her grandmother, but an extremely hungry wolf.

12

Little Red Riding Hood [ACT IV] [SCENE I] [The Forest.] Little Red Riding Hood ran across the room and through the door shouting into the forest. Little Red Riding Hood: Help! There’s a wolf after men! Someone please, help me! Is there anyone out there in the forest who will come to my rescue? I think he wants to rape me! Please hurry. A woodsman* who was chopping logs nearby heard her cry and ran towards the cottage as fast as he could. Woodsman: I’m going! Hang on! Little Red Riding Hood: Please hurry! The wolf is trying to eat me! He grabbed the wolf as soon as he got there. Woodsman: Come here you wolf. You better spit out her grandmother now! Before I hurt you. I’ll chop off your little friend. Yeah, I mean little. He made him spit out the poor grandmother who was a bit frightened by the whole experience; however, she was still in one piece. Grandmother: Oh, how great it feels to be out of his stomach! 13

Little Red Riding Hood [ACT V] [SCENE I] [The grandmother’s house.] Little Red Riding Hood had never felt this type of danger and was relieved to have her grandmother back. Little Red Riding Hood: Oh Grandma, I was scared for my life! I’ll dawdle in the forest again. Grandmother: There, there, child. You’ve learned an important lesson. Thank goodness you shouted loud enough for this kind woodsman to hear you! The woodsman knocked out the wolf. Woodsman: He won’t be hurting anyone anytime soon ladies. I will be taking him somewhere where he will never bother anyone else. He carried him deep into the forest. Little Red Riding Hood: Let’s eat our lunch and sip our wine Grandma and have a nice chat. I promise to never talk to a stranger ever again, for as long as I live! The End.
