Line Plots Reading and Understanding

What is a line plot? A line plot shows data along a number line. Each dot above a point on the line represents one number in the data set. An outlier is any number in the data set that is very different from the rest of the numbers. Open up to page 592 in your books

Why do we use line plots? 1. They make it easier to look at the numbers at a glance 2. You can compare the numbers easier 3. It’s easier to see which number was the most common or least common

Reading Data on a Line Plot (B) How many dots are above 1 ½ miles? What do those 2 dots mean?

How can you use the line plot to find the most common distance Eli walked the dog? Why was a number line from 0 to 3 used for this line plot?
