Limbo What happens is the poem Lines 1- 19: the start of the poem has the beat ‘limbo, limbo like me, limbo, limbo like me’ and the voyage of the slave ship. It is showing that they have hope. Lines 20-36: the middle of the poem is the main event the voyage ‘drum stick knock’ this is building a picture of what it was like on the ship. Lines 37-51: this is the final sections of when the slaves suffering ends. ‘outof the dark’ he’s been on the ship for so many day and when see the light he does not know where he is. Rhythm: the beat of the drum on the ship. The relentless of the slavelabour. There is also beat of the limbo dance so the slaves can rember the African roots. Metaphorical language: description of the darkness and the slave ship to show how the slave where treated.
