Dear Ms Montcalm:

I am writing to affirm my interest in the Project Officer position for the Library of Parliament advertised on the Parliament of Canada web site. I believe that this position would enable me to apply and expand upon my academic, administrative and research experiences within an academic setting. This position would allow me to gain further experience within parliamentary government. Because I have an excellent grasp of the legislative process in Connecticut, I wrote a web site that explains that process for the Connecticut State Library. In addition, my political science Master of Arts degree focuses on state government institutions and the concept of federalism. In addition, I have published an article on the constitutional crisis surrounding the events of former Connecticut Chief Justice Sullivan. I have a diverse background with two Master of Arts' degrees: one in history and the other in political science. In addition, I have taught sophomore and junior level survey classes in American History and Political Science. Currently, I work at the University of New Haven as a History Instructor – Practitioner in Residence teaching Modern Western Civilization. In addition I have extensive practical administrative experience working as an Assistant Compliance Officer for a bank. I have the experience of heading large information gathering projects. As an experienced instructor, researcher and political institutionalist, I offer: • • • •

• •

Skilled ability to organize and implement research materials on a moment’s notice for classroom use. Experience in using modern technology as a tool for instruction and information processing from PowerPoint presentations to web-page design using cross platform programs and processes. This includes the entire Microsoft suite of program. Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals on a large scale with particular attention to individual strengths. Experience managing large groups of people as a team to gather information and implement recommendations. Experienced professional research methods that include, but are not limited to the following: source scrutiny, historical interpretation, and reading proficiency in the French language.. Experience in using program development techniques for evaluation and critique purposes.

I look forward to meeting with you to further discuss this opportunity. I am confident that I will make an immediate contribution to the staff of the Library of Parliament. Sincerely,

J. Michael Green
