Users can also borrow and return DVDs through automated service machine located on the 2nd floor. The unit is available for service between 8am to 10pm. However, please note that it does not process overdue and/or recalled items. To return overdue and/or recalled DVDs, you must bring them to the Service Desk on either 2nd or 5th floor.

● Multimedia in Closed Stack All multimedia materials except DVDs are stored in a closed stack on 5th floor. To gain access, make a recall request for the desired items online via library website. A confirmation e-mail will be sent within 24 hours of your request and you can then pick up the requested items at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor.

● Recall Service ● Borrowing Books Automated self-service machines handle majority of book circulations at the library. These machines are located on 3rd and 5th floor, in front of the library’ s central elevator. Users may borrow books using their own ID Cards. If all machines are out of order or you need assistance with the machine, go to the Circulation Service Desk on 2nd floor or to Circulation Office (Rm. 204) for help.

● Self-Checkin & Checkout Machine

Recall requestors will be notified via e-mail when requested materials are returned to the library. The returned materials will be kept for 5 days to be checked out by the requestor. Patrons will also be notified via e-mail when materials they checked out are recalled. To return or check out recalled books, please use the service desk on the 5th floor by the entrance or the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor. When returning, you may also use the book return slots in the Student Union Building but they cannot be returned via automated self-service machines at the library.

To check out recalled items or materials that come with books you would like to borrow (ex. CDs, diskettes, etc.), please go to the Circulation Service Desk on 2nd floor or to the Information Desk on 5th floor during working hours.

Recall service is used to expedite circulation of library resources that are on heavy demand. Through this service, the loan period of checked out library materials can be limited once a user requests for that item. Recall requests can be made on the library homepage in the search details page.

● Reserved Books Coursework related books may be placed on reserve per faculty request. Reserved books are located in designated bookshelves near the Service Desk on 3rd floor and can be checked out like any other library books. However, loan period for each reserved item is based upon the professors’requests.

Once purchase request is approved, domestic items take about 20 days and international orders take about 40 days. Delivery and availability of ordered books depend on their publication status. Thus, some items may arrive sooner or later than expected, and certain items might just be impossible to purchase. Book purchase requestors may check out the new additions to the library’ s book collection once they are sorted and registered in the library system.

● Accompanying Materials Accompanying materials refer to any items that come with a book, such as CDROMs, diskettes, maps, etc. These materials are physically separated from its paired books and they must be checked out and returned to the Circulation Desk on 2nd floor. Accompanying materials are not counted as borrowed item if loaned with its paring books.
