LIBRARY DYNAMIC ACTIVITIES AND READING ENCOURAGEMENT

FIRST TERM 1. Temporal exhibitions: • •

Organize from the school library in collaboration with other public institutions, commemoration of dates or important events through the exhibition of books and other arguments related to this topic. Preparation of reading guides, celebration of special events: - Celebration of the library day (October 24th) - Celebration of Halloween with books exhibition about nightmares. - Halloween decoration of the library (pumpkins, bats, skeletons..) - Celebration of Saint´s Day, in collaboration with the Language and Literature Department and the Religion Department. Watching of “El Tenorio”. - Reading of the book “Don Juan Tenorio” - Christmas activities: . Christmas cards . Publication of the winners of the different contests. . Other exhibitions - Music week – celebration on Saint Cecilia´s Day.

2. Guided Activities A new and different way of knowing the library, and which can be useful as a support on the different subjects. •

3. Theatre -

Puppet theatre show. Staging of some scenes from “El Tenorio”. The theatre group “Ares” will also be helped in its performance of “Las Troyanas”.

Spreading by means of the library notice board: our vision of reading; the ten Commandments of reading; Reader’s rights and duties. Library Decalogue. New released books. Decoration of the library according to different festivities School Magazine “Mare Nostrum”. Reading recommendation among students (“The Readings´ Tree”) To show both teachers and students how to get books. Students will also be personally advised about readings according to their tastes and interests.

SECOND TERM 1. Temporal Exhibitions •

To organize from the library, an together with other institutions (the Local Library, with an inter-library borrowing), the commemoration of dates or events which are worth to highlight, by means of book and document exhibitions, reading guides, organization of any special act, etc. - Science and Technology Week - Important characters´ birthdays - Relevant events´ anniversaries - Saint Valentine´s Day cards (in English) - Exhibition on the great poet Miguel Hernández.

2. Guided Activities A new and different way of knowing the library, and which can be useful as a support on the different subjects. •

These are convoked with the objective of stimulating the interest for the library among our students and with the intention, also, of promoting the creation of literary works and plastic arts. “Reading Points”: Plastic and Visual Arts Department. Students from 2nd year of Secondary Education. Suggestion Box”: Technology Department. Students from 3rd year of Secondary Education. “The Secret Book”: Website. Collaboration with the literature prizes “Mandarache” and “Hache” on youth literature. (Exhibition of prized books). Projections Solidarity Book Market: during the Book Week. Carried out thanks to the Educative Community. Price: 1€. This money will be use to foster children.

Creation and diffusion of reading guides according to different ages: - February 14th, St. Valentine’s Day. Celebrate love in the library. - March 8th, International Women Day. Reading Point: recommendation of books for students and teachers. Users´ Formation: - Guided visits to the library (Compulsory Secondary Education Students). - To make the use of the library easy and learn how to use information sources. - To encourage reading by means of games, posters, etc. Spreading by means of the notice board and the library website: - New released books - Materials made by the library team. Materials made by the library team: - “Know your library” - Website - Rules about the computer use. “Language: Collection of Poems”: Created by students of first cycle of Secondary Education. THIRD TERM Dynamic Activities in the School Library: - Atmosphere and decoration of the library. - Reading recommendation among students (“The Readings´ Tree”) - Creation of a DVD guide about the running and services of the school library. It will be made by Bachillerato Students. 1. Temporal Exhibitions •
