Division towards the Culture of Appreciation By: Junrey S. Pagal (Ist Year Theo) SVST, #221 Tandang Sora Ave., Quezon City Truly, our people’s opinions are divided. Once the verdict will be articulated on Estrada’s Plunder case, possible messiness in society is expectedly happened. Some are preferred to let Estrada be acquitted, while others want him suffer in the jail-as a recompense for his crime committed. If all these diverse opinions would crash upon, there would definitely be more intense fragmentation and division. Our relational conviction and even interaction among individuals has a lot of opposites. Taken from the different socio-political ideologies that shaped out outlook and belief in life, make us divided. I am thinking, why we can’t establish unity amidst the complexity of ideas and positions we have. Why we can’t develop the sense of objectivity on things instead of being powered by self- subjectivity and interests. I am personally bombarded by the different chaotic and untoward relationship among our society. This has augmented to the loss of virtue of appreciating the goodness of one’s person. This embodiment experience of divisiveness within our own preferable choice enables us to suffer pragmatically towards the slow development of “appreciation of culture”. I believe that this is just a matter of emerging the commonality of response and outcry to a better “appreciation of one’s gift and uniqueness. Instead of creating our own shield of pride, why not start to build a rapport of appreciation and forgiveness.
