Windsor High School March 15, 2019 To Whom It May Concern, I’m writing this letter on behalf of Colby Rivara. I have been his academic counselor at Windsor High School for three years and feel qualified to recommend him with confidence. Colby has great potential. He is strong academically and excels in areas where he is stimulated both academically and creatively. He chose to take honors classes in 9th grade in which he did well. He was stricken with a ruptured appendix during his 10th grade year which forced him to work from home for most of his fall semester. Although it was difficult to get back to the pace of a regular school day, Colby maintained passing grades in all subjects including an A grade in PE for the spring semester. This year, as a requirement for junior and senior students, Colby chose Nueva School of the Arts for his focus. This core includes English, Economics and Government, and a focus class of Production Design. In addition, Colby also chose to take Art II in which he currently holds a grade of A-. As part of the Nueva core, two musicals are produced each year. Colby was instrumental with both set design and construction as well as the creation of the musical scores. Although he has been playing guitar for just a short time, he has found his passion for both performing and writing music and performed in both productions. Although Colby has suffered setbacks, he is one of the kindest, most genuine young adults I have ever met. He is humble and quiet but has found that his passion for the arts has given him a path, focus, and a determination to continue to develop his talents. He is hard-working, currently holding two jobs outside of school, and is prepared to work hard academically as well to prepare himself for a post secondary career in the arts. Please consider this most talented and motivated student for any opportunities that may present themselves in order to support him in the future. Sincerely, Mindy Burgert Counselor Windsor High School
