Lesson Planning Ideas I learned PPP as part of an online TEFL course, and it always struck me as a way to handle activities and not a way to handle an entire class. My favorite lesson plan style is the E.I.F, as it fits into my conception of communicative teaching and helped mold my ideas about lesson planning. It takes into consideration the idea of learning in stages, motivation/interest, and the scope and length for all planned activities. But, my question is this: how do we properly handle the activities within any lesson plan frame? My answer to this is easy: PPP, and using routines. I pick a lesson frame, such as E.I.F, and I work through my activities with the framework of PPP. Many activities need to be presented/introduced before getting into them, and perhaps the activities need to be not only introduced, but also graded from easier to more difficult; this is where the PPP idea fits. Each element of the E.I.F framework can be parsed into smaller PPP units. Of course flexibility is key, but by having a macro frame (EIF), and a micro frame (PPP), we can analyze/create our lessons/routines from a different perspective.
