Pupils are placed 3 in a group. Each pupil will choose a hand out of the 3 available on their unit’s cover page. When each pupil chooses a specific hand, they are to describe the picture, guess their age and assume the occupation of the person. Pupils are randomly picked to present their opinion. ACTIVITY 1: Individual / Group / Class / Pair

( 40 minutes)

Detailed Task (15 minutes) 1. Pupils, individually have to state as many words as possible as they can think of that describe their family members within 1 minute. Pupils will be indicated when the timer starts and stops.

2. Pupils then shout out the words, while another pupil writes it out on the board. ( Spelling and punctuations are corrected). Lesson Development

3. Pupils are to note down words which are not on their list from the board. 4. Pupils are then to be in a group of 4. Then each group is given an envelope which contains 4 paragraphs of a passage. They are to rearrange the paragraphs, then check against the passage in the textbook (pg 6&7). 5. Now, pupils are to skim and scan; then identify different ways to learn about one’s family past. They are to list it down in a bubble map on the white boards given to each group. Pupils do a gallery walk and award 2 stars and a wish. Activity 2: Pair/ class In pairs, pupils match headings A,B or C to the correct sections numbered 1- 4. Discussion occurs. Pupils justify why they have chosen the title. Pupils review their learning in this lesson by asking them to identify with their shoulder partner one new word

Two sentences are written on the board. Pupils have to identify the two different verbs, which tense it belongs to and how they differ in meaning on their mini whiteboard. ACTIVITY 1: Individual / Group / Class / Pair

( 40 minutes)

1. Pupils in groups are given an envelope containing strips of Exercise A, a timer is set for them to match the sentences within 3 minutes. The actual answers are projected for checking. 2. Pupils are redirected to sentence 4 in A. The word ‘always’ is written on the board and pupils shout out as to where the word ‘always’ should be placed. Pupils are explained on the adverb of freq and elicit other adverbs of freq. 3. A worksheet is distributed to pupils with 7 sentences where they would have to rewrite the sentences with appropriate adverbs of frequency which relates about themselves or their families.

ACTIVITIES

4. Two pupils draw a card from the ‘action jar’, they have to act out the action stated on the card. Pupils have to guess the Lesson Development ( 45 MIN)

action by using the traffic light, to answer the question. 5. Pupils are to answer question B from their textbook, pg 9. Answers are checked as a class. 6. Pupils are to read the sentences given and underline the verbs. ( Section C) 7. Pupils look at rules on the screen and shout out the missing word. ( Section D) 8. In pairs, pupils discuss the two sentences in E, and then check the answers in class. Activity 2 1. Pupils attempt Q1 - 8 from activity F, pg 9 then they check answers as a class using the traffic light. 2. A photo on page 9 is projected and students state how they may be related and they need to justify, then complete the text given on page 9 in activity G with the correct present simple or present continuous tense. 3. Pupils are reminded to pay attention to whether verbs are stative or action.

Post-Lesson (10 MIN)

Pupils are asked to write two sentences using vocabulary introduced. One sentence using a stative verb and the other using an action verb in the present continuous. Pupils conduct peer assessment with teacher’s guidance. School Project
