P/M is the production of metal parts by way of compacting metal powders in appropriate dies and sintering (heating without melting) them.



First Uses: 3000 BC – Egypt; sponge irons  1100 AD – Arabs; high quality swords from iron powder  1900s – prod’n of tungsten filaments for incandescent bulbs 
