Sue’s Learning Poster (Incorporated with Peace Shield) Increased Self-Awareness – the visualization of being lesbian was powerful; giving me a whole new appreciation of being a minority based on sexual orientation.
Increased Cultural Knowledge – Nigeria’s official language is English and their economic base is largely driven by the oil and gas industry – similar to Fort McMurray but different in so many other ways opened my eyes to my assumptions.
Acquired/Enhanced Skill – Awareness of the covert discrimination that is part of our daily surroundings and looking at ways to address this for change.
Meaningful Organizational Development Competency – Facilitating workshops with peers and students regarding social justice awareness.
Favourite Course Activity/Learning – The Peace Shield – it was personal, creative, the timing was right, and the associated meanings were powerful. I hope to use this with clients.
Other Student Highlight – Learning from the perceptions viewing the same situation can be so different. A key skill prevent assumptions.
