Reflective Journal entry #1 Orientation about the FS1 January 13, 2015 Time: 3:00-5:00

In this afternoon we have our orientation in fs1 together with the Dean of Education Dr. Ludivina A. Boja and with our fs supervisor Ms. Rotzberryl H. Aquilam. In this orientation, it talks about the Observation of Learner’s Development and the School Environment. Dr. Boja told us that we should finish what we have started to continue our studies to achieve our dreams on becoming a future teacher someday and we should always thank God for the blessings every day and continue praying and hoping that we should be able to graduate soon and take the board exam. It’s good to hear the graduation song and to be called as graduate because of our many sacrifices and efforts that we did in this field study.

In this orientation, it is very important to know more of what field study is all about and what is the essence of doing this field study related to our course and what are the duties and responsibilities in observing the class and the school environment.

Reflective Journal entry #2 First Day of FS1 January 14, 2015 Time: 7:30-11:30

When I was in school we look for our cooperating teacher which is Mr. Marcel Ochavillo. But before we start our observation in his class, Sir Marcel called all the students having the fs1 because we have another orientation with the Principal of High School Mrs. Vina M. Zaragoza in her office. In her orientation we talk about the history of Maria Montessori on how she is dedicated in the field of education also we tackled about the K-12 program and what is the essence of this in the new curriculum. After our orientation each of us went to the classroom and look for our cooperating teachers. Sir Marcel introduce us to his students in 4th year section Piety that we will be having our field study in his classroom in observing the learner’s development and the school environment . There are only two students in 4th year but they are not really close to each other. In my observation in 4th year they listen to the teacher explaining about their topic and they are good in answering their seat wok. But before we end our observation we need to fill up our Daily Time Record (DTR) see to it that our CT could sign.

I have learned that the students of St. Thomas More Montessori School are very good in their class especially in every subject and they can easily understand the topic.

I was surprised that even if they are too young they could easily understand especially in math it is difficult subject but still they could catch up.

I was pleased for they treated us as their own teacher; they greet us every time we are going to observe them. The class observation is a great help to as future teacher someday because by observing and knowing the different strategies and technique how to facilitate learning, I could also use it in my class someday.

Reflective Journal Entry #5 February 01, 2015 Culmination Day

This is our culmination day for our field study together with cooperating teachers and the Principal of High School Mrs. Vina M. Zaragoza, MBA especially with our field study supervisor Ma’am Rotzberryl H. Aquilam.

Before we start our program of course we do first the prayer and followed by the singing of the national anthem. When the program already started some of my classmates shared their experiences during the 3 days field study observation. We are all working students but we do our part as a pre-service teacher because it is part of our course in education. When Ma’am Vina was called to give message, she stands at the front. Ma’am Vina shared about her experiences on how she became a teacher and gave us inspirational message and she told us to continue our studies. If we are good in academic subjects and our performance and we pass the LET exam she told us that we can work in this institution. I will do my best not only in all subjects but my performance as a pre-service teacher and pass the board exam since when I was elementary my ambition is to become a professional teacher someday and help those children in the rural areas who could not send by his/her parents to school because of poverty.

Reflective Journal entry #4 January 16, 2015 Third day of FS

This is the third day of our observation in FS1. It is a great experience as a preservice teacher to know more about on how to become a teacher someday and to handle the students learning. Only one student around because Jara is absent but no class in first period and the second Ms. Analyn is not around but she left a seatwork for the students but only Grace answered it. At the end of the class in the morning, we saw our classmates having picture taking with the students in their section for the documentation profile for the fs1, of course we also join in their picture taking and have fun with the students in other section because they are not busy at that time.

Reflective Journal Entry # 3 Second day of FS1 January 15,2015 Time : 7:30-11:30

This journal 3 is all about communication skills, it is really important having communication to others, especially to the students. As a future teacher, we need to talk to them in a friendly manner, never scold them. Don’t be shy to your teacher. In 4th year there are only two students sometimes they talk but not all the time because they are different in behavior but still they are good in their class in all subjects.
