WHO ARE LEADERS? Somebody

people follow: somebody who guides or directs others Somebody in charge of others: the head of a nation, political party, legislative body, or military unit
DIFFERENCE B/W TYPES AND STYLES Types:A “type” of Leader is determined and identified by the core trait that is emphasized and by the combination of other core traits that are displayed and used to gain the trust of the people and Lead them to undertake the major task facing the organization.

CHARISMATIC LEADERS Relationship
between followers and persons they believe in because of reputation aside from tested capacities, experience or stands on issues. Followers place great confidence in heroic leaders and in their ability to overcome crises and obstacles.
CHARISMATIC LEADERS Some
people have real personal charisma, that “certain something” —i.e., as the Greek word “charisma” means, A gift from God— that attracts people to them. They have “an enthusiastic, positive, joyful approach to life” “sincere desire to touch people in a very personal and meaningful way” They have magnetic appeal fueled by eloquence, emotional expressiveness, unusual self-confidence and belief in their own insights or sources of divinity.”
TRANSACTIONAL LEADERS Transactional
leadership...occurs when one person takes the initiative in making contact with others for the purpose of an exchange of valued things. The exchange could be economical or political or psychological in nature
TRANSACTIONAL LEADERS Focus
is on goals and rewards; the leader's power stems from the ability to provide rewards for followers doing what the leaders thinks should be done. They focus on..“first to make sure that other people's highest priority needs are being served.”
TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERS Transformational
leadership is about change, innovation and entrepreneurship”. Transformational Leaders are “Individuals out to create new approaches and imagine new areas to explore” But, they also importantly point out that “They relate to people in more intuitive and empathetic ways”
TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERS Transforming
leadership...occurs when one or more persons engage with others in such a way that leaders and followers raise one another to higher levels of motivation and morality....
Their
purposes become fused...as mutual support for a common purpose....transforming leadership ultimately becomes moral in that it raises the level of human conduct of both leader and led....
WHAT MORE IT MEANS FOR YOU Leaders
may focus primarily on maintenance [Transactional] activities or change [Transformational] activities, or they may balance both in the short term. It is rare that an organizational leader can entirely neglect either transactional or transformational activities in contemporary organizations
Thus,
to be successful, you may have to be either a Charismatic, Transactional or Transformational Leader or several of those types simultaneously. Thus, it stands to reason that you will want to have and be able to emphasize and employ any of the core traits with equal
