Poster-Check-In Due Date: Monday, February 11, 2008_ Poster check-in What topic are you working on?

Estrada Name : Jose Martin Martinez

The topic I am choosing is in regards to the ethics involved in the genetic alteration of food for human consumption. List three resources with information on your topic. For each resource include a) A complete citation Oak Ridge National Laboratory. What are Genetically Modified (GM) Foods? Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Retrieved February 7, 2008, from http://www.ornl.gov/sci/techresources/Human_Genome/elsi/gmfood.shtml Powell, Douglas. "Genetically Engineered Foods Should Not Be Labeled." Current Controversies: Genetic Engineering. Ed. Lisa Yount. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2002. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Gale. PORTLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 11 Feb. 2008 . Altieri, Miguel A. "The Government Should Test the Safety of Genetically Engineered Foods." Current Controversies: Genetic Engineering. Ed. James D. Torr. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2006. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Gale. PORTLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 11 Feb. 2008 . b) 3 - 4 sentences about the information, illustrations, or opinions presented This source provides me with a lot of facts from the ethical point of view of the US government in regards to this problem. I am interested in exposing both sides of the coin so that a better analysis can be made from me and the other students seeing my poster. In regards to the pictures, I am exposing a lot of images showing how easy is to spread GMO crops on the fields and some of the after effects that are occurring in other countries of south America. c) Whether the source provides facts, opinions or both. Since there is still uncertainty about the future of genetic engineering and its effects both pro and con sources are not sure of their bases. They provide both opinion and facts but is not clear.
