Center for Jewish Living and Learning Kulanu Mini-Courses The Center for Jewish Living and Learning is pleased to be offering courses with two outstanding members of the Robert M. Exploring the Holocaust through the Arts Six sessions beginning Monday, March 23 · 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Instructor: Mrs. Vered Gadot Using photographs, literature, and the fine arts, this course will explore both the history of the Holocaust and the personal experiences of Holocaust victims and survivors. Participants will gain a unique understanding of ways in which studying the Holocaust can focus on those who used their creative energy to document and overcome the Final Solution.

Vered Gadot attended Ben Gurion University were she received a BA in Jewish History, Education, and Jewish Thought and a teaching degree in Jewish History. She also holds a Masters Degree in Jewish Education and is the recipient of the Houston Bureau of Education’s Irvin L. Samuels Outstanding Teacher Award for Judaic Studies and numerous other awards for excellence in Jewish education. $36 JCC Members and Beren Academy Families $48 General Public

Be A Better You: Ethical Character Development Four sessions beginning Wednesday, April 22 • 7:00 – 8:00 PM Instructor: Rabbi Dov Nimchinsky This course will explore developing and improving character traits using the approaches outlined in several classic Jewish texts. We will focus on traits that are critical in maintaining a healthy positive outlook and more meaningful interpersonal relationships.

Rabbi Nimchinsky is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the Robert M. Beren Academy. He has been awarded the Irvin L. Samuels Outstanding Teacher Award for Judaic Studies and the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. In addition, he was recently awarded a grant from the Avi Chai Foundation to develop technological tools to assist in the teaching of Judaic studies.
