Kosovo: The Young Europeans
An international promotional campaign for Kosovo was launched on Monday under the slogan “Kosovo: The young Europeans”. The 5.7-million-euro ($8.5-million) campaign by advertising group Saatchi & Saatchi will air 60-second television advertisements on six stations in Europe and the United States, including CNN, BBC, Euronews, Bloomberg and Eurosport . The ad that started airing on October 26th, 2009, emphasizes the vitality of the country's youth; it shows young people coming from different parts of the country bringing bright yellow jigsaw pieces to a central point, providing a visual metaphor for how young people are rebuilding Kosovo. Saatchi & Saatchi involved 300 young Kosovo residents in the video promotion. "Serbia has distorted the real face of Kosovo with its propaganda which has damaged Kosovo's image throughout the years," said Memli Krasniqi, head of the campaign for the Kosovo government. "Our campaign is not only an economic campaign to bring new investments but also is a political one." The event was attended by President Fatmir Sejdiu, Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and international guests. Sejdiu commented that Kosovo now has a chance to present itself to Europe in a new light. “It will represent Kosovo’s energy, ambition, spirit and great desire to walk freely and unite with other communities of free countries,” he added. Thaci stressed that Kosovo’s image has changed since declaring independence and that it is now internationally known, democratic, peaceful and progressive. “Today, we present before you the new image of Kosovo; before the world, with the possibility for them to learn about the new country, the new people, the state of Kosovo,” he said. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqEUDeZJSCE
