KEY TEACHING POINTS BATTING Front Foot Drive Simple KTPs • Step (forward) • Swing • Drive In-depth KTPs • Lean your head and front shoulder forward. Take a step with the front foot while keeping the back leg straight. • Swing the bat downward and contact the ball as it passes below the eyes. Keep the bat angled so the face is toward the ground. • The bat should end up slightly ahead of your front leg and close the side of the pad. Do not follow through. Keep the heel of your back foot off the ground and hold the position to have the best chance to block the ball.

BATTING Back Foot Drive Simple KTPs • Step (backward) • Swing • Drive In-depth KTPs • Step back towards the wickets with your back foot. Keep your back leg inside the line of the ball. Keep your head forward and your back foot flat on the ground.

Move your front foot toward the back leg with your front foot pointed at the bowler. Keeping the arms in a high position, swing the bat straight down. Angle the bat toward the ground and s trike the ball when it is below the eyes.

BOWLING How to hold a cricket ball 1. Place your thumb on the seam of the ball. 2. Place your index finger on the seam, opposite your thumb. 3. Hold the ball so that the seam is parallel to your index finger. 4. Place your middle finger to the right of the seam, approximately a quarter of the way down the ball. 5. Wrap your ring finger and pinky into a loose fit.

How to release the ball 1. Carry the ball close to your chin. 2. Coil your body and lean back. 3. Drop your elbow and pant your leg bowling leg. 4. Straighten your elbow and arm. 5. Shift your weight to the lead leg. 6. Thrust your bowling shoulder forward. 7. Swing your arm like a windmill. 8. Snap your wrist forward just before you release the ball. 9. Release the ball. 10. Follow through properly. 11. Bend your elbow.

Difference between swing and seam bowling in cricket Swing is movement of the ball in the air and seam bowling is the movement of the ball after pitching. Seam Spin Bowl • Spin balling is a bowling technique used in cricket and the baller is referred to as a spinner. • The main aim of spin bowling is to bowl the cricket ball with rapid rotation so that when it bounces on the pitch it will deviate from its normal straight path.
