The University of Dundee Global Excellence (Undergraduate) Scholarship 2019/20 This document should be reviewed alongside the University of Dundee Scholarship Terms and Conditions, as those terms and conditions will provide you with additional information that apply to you in respect of the Scholarship. Application There is no separate application form for the Global Excellence Undergraduate scholarship as we use the information provided on your programme application to determine if you are eligible to receive this scholarship. There may be some cases where we need some further information from you before we can award you the scholarship – in this case, we will contact you to let you know the next steps. The University may enforce application deadlines. Eligibility Only applicants classified as overseas fee status applicants are eligible for the Scholarship. criteria Applicants must hold an academic offer of entry to the University of Dundee. The programme must be a full time, on campus undergraduate programme. The University will assess the information given in your application – academic qualifications, extra-curricular and/or voluntary activities – to confirm if you are eligible to receive the award. UK Equivalencies of all Academic Qualifications are at the discretion of the University of Dundee. Value of At point of offer, the maximum scholarship we can offer is for 1 year only at £5,000. scholarship At point of confirmation, we may offer you an additional (up to 5 years) scholarship, up to a maximum of £25,000 If we invite you to provide further information to support your scholarship application, the maximum scholarship we can offer is for 1 year only at £5,000 All Scholarship awards are offered on an unconditional basis. Selection The University will automatically award to applicants who have achieved AAB at A Level or above (or equivalent) - excluding Medicine and Criteria Dentistry. All grade equivalencies are at the discretion of the University of Dundee. In addition to the eligibility criteria and scholarship value noted above: o Award at point of offer (excludes programmes in Medicine and Dentistry), our Admissions Team will assess both your certified and predicted grades. o Award at point of confirmation, our Admission Team will assess your certified grades. This covers programmes in all of our Academic Schools, with Medicine and Dentistry offered on a discretionary basis. If you do not meet the award criteria at point of offer, then we may invite you to provide further information to support your application. This information, along with other University set criteria, will determine your eligibility for an award. 1
Eligibility You may also be eligible to receive the following in addition to this Scholarship: for other A Scholarship or bursary as part of a partnership with another University (in this case you will receive the highest value Scholarship, not both) scholarship External Scholarship, however the total value of both Scholarships combined must not exceed your total tuition fee. /funding o If your external Scholarship/funding covers the full tuition fee then you are not able to receive this Scholarship. o If your external Scholarship/funding covers part of the tuition fee, then we may be able to offer you this Scholarship as long as the combined value of both awards does not exceed the total tuition fee. This applies to all years of study. o There may be some cases this can be reviewed, for example if your sponsor/funder is able to deduct the Global Excellence Scholarship value off of the total amount they are funding you. You will need to check with them directly. If you are a clearing applicant, you may be eligible for our Clearing Scholarship. However if you meet the criteria for the Global Excellence scholarship, then you will be awarded the highest value scholarship. We will notify you in writing of the scholarships which you are entitled to receive. Key If you defer your entry to the University of Dundee, you may be able to defer your scholarship award. information If you have studied one of our Pre Sessional English programmes, then you are eligible to apply for this scholarship. If you are awarded this scholarship after you have paid your tuition fees in full, then the scholarship value can either be: o Transferred to your University accommodation account balance o Refunded to you after you matriculate at the University of Dundee. The amount due will usually be refunded within 3 weeks of matriculation. If you have been awarded this scholarship for up to 5 years of study, then the scholarship amount will automatically be deducted from your tuition fee balance each academic year by the Fees department. To continue to receive this award per year of study, you must meet the progression criteria which is set by your School and the University Registry department. On average this is B2 or above, with no re-sits. The University may offer additional awards at our own discretion, out with the above criteria. Examples of providing additional information to support your application include, but are not limited to, meeting our in country staff or being interviewed by an Academic member of staff. Exclusions If you are a current student at the University of Dundee you are not eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is available to new applicants only. If you have studied at International College Dundee and are beginning your Undergraduate studies, you are not eligible for this scholarship. You may be eligible for the ICD Excellence Progression Scholarship. Applicants from non-graduating years at the University are not eligible for the Scholarship. 2
