My name is Kevin Schleicher Jr. I was born in Norton, educated in the Norton Public Schools, and am the 4th  generation of my family to grow up in town. I am married with two young children, and hope for them to grow  up here feeling the same pride that I always have for this town.  I truly love being a member of this town and community, as it has given me so many opportunities. Growing up  and creating my own life in Norton has allowed me to meet and become friends with outstanding people. There  are so many positive qualities here, and the small tight knit community is a fantastic place to raise a family.   Other than my personal connections to this community, I am running for the charter commission for a few  reasons. I believe anytime we can review and study something as important as our government, we cannot  waste the opportunity. Our town government affects our day to day lives more than any other political arena; it  has the most direct impact on our families and our futures. This is a golden opportunity to bring together smart,  educated individuals to look at our form of government and make sure it is the most useful and efficient way for  our town to conduct business.  In running for this charter commission member position, I am confident that I can and will bring my pride and  passion for this town to the table. I am eager and willing to listen to all other members of the future commission  and the citizens of our town, because we are only effective if we are willing to make sure opinions and  suggestions from all members and citizens are studied and discussed. I also believe part of this process is  starting with a clean slate and an unbiased opinion of our town government. We will not be successful if we do  not begin with an open mind. The review, the study, and the discussion should be formed after looking at all  parts of the charter and making sure it works best for the entire town.  I am hoping for the Norton residents to actively participate in the following three things on April 23: (1) come out  and vote so your voice is heard; (2) please vote "yes" for the Charter Commission. At the very minimum this  gives us a fantastic chance to make sure we are doing everything we can to help our town and its future; and (3)  please vote for Kevin Schleicher Jr. so I have the chance to give back to the town that has given so much to me  and my family.
