-: JNANPITH AWARD AND WINNERS LIST :The Jnanpith Award is the highest literary award in India It is presented by the Bharatiya Jnanpith, a trust founded by the Sahu Jain family, the publishers of the The Times of India newspaper. The award was instituted in 1961, and its first recipient, in 1965, was the Malayalam writer G. Sankara Kurup.
Kuvempu :--Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa (29 December 1904 – 11 November 1994),[2]popularly known by his pen nameKuvempu. For his contributions to Kannada Literature, the Government of Karnatakadecorated him with the honorific Rashtrakavi ("National Poet") in 1958 and Karnataka Ratna ("The Gem of Karnataka") in 1992. D. R. Bendre :-Bendre was awarded the Jnanapita for his 1964 poetry collection, ನಾಕು ತಂತ್ರ (Naaku Tanti).
