Bridge2Growth is a new UK government sponsored program designed to facilitate the UK company start up process for North American companies with European expansion plans. And it's free. The program brings together UK bankers, lawyers and property advisors, giving you access to them for your evaluation, questions and consultation. About Bridge2Growth: Bridge2Growth is a public-private partnership between UK local government and qualified professional service companies. The participating service companies such as HSBC, Martineau Johnson, Tenon Group, ROWAN Ltd, EBS and the University of Warwick Science Park provide support and advice tailored to North American companies. The two UK government agencies of The British Midlands and UK Trade & Investment, add the local support with offices throughout the US and Canada.

Companies who are eligible for the Bridge2Growth program will have access to: • Free UK Ltd company formation • Free market support including grants and R & D tax advice • Free guidance on UK legal and tax matters • Free banking services • Free 6 month office space in a full-service facility

Tenon is a leading provider of accounting and business advice to entrepreneurs and owner-managed private businesses. Tenon’s experienced international tax specialists advise in the corporate, personal and indirect tax fields. This includes investment into and out of the UK, advising on international group structures, profit repatriation, transfer pricing, international tax optimization for individuals and cross border VAT issues. Tenon also has a team specializing in providing advice to companies with internationally mobile employees and UK outsourced accounting systems.

Techmark is a small, flexible, and multi-lingual team of highly experienced marketing professionals who use their extensive skills, assets, and networks to develop business for their clients. As part of the Warwick Science Park’s business support services, Techmark has more than ten years experience with over 500 SMEs in all aspects of business development including customer contact, market research, forecasting, and new market identification.

EBS is an independent privately owned company based in Warwick which has specialized in servicing businesses from the US and Europe entering and operating in the UK market. The clients range in size from subsidiaries of large public groups to smaller owner managed businesses. EBS has developed a cost effective, flexible package of services to enable companies from outside the UK to establish themselves in the UK through their own companies with their own sales force, without taking the kind of financial risks that were involved before.

Opened in 1984 by Margaret Thatcher, the Warwick Science Park has grown into one of the UK’s finest business facilities. Warwick Science Park is currently home to over 150 companies ranging from start-ups to branches of multi-nationals. The infrastructure and environment at Warwick Science Park has created industry platforms in ICT, Bio-Medicine, Electronics, Media, and Industrial Technologies. Partnerships have been established with the Midlands Network of Entrepreneurs, Ventures and Angels (“MINERVA”) and the Shell Technology Enterprise Program (“STEP”).

HSBC has over 150 years of business banking experience in the UK with offices in 82 countries. The Inward Investment Team works specifically with North American companies to establish business accounts, internet or PC banking, currency accounts, foreign exchange, business credit cards and online processing. HSBC will work directly with your company to answer banking questions, advice on relocation assistance and recommend customized professional services for your specific needs.

Work on Inward Investment into the UK is a distinct specialization at the independent law firm of Martineau Johnson. The work involves legal advice to clients considering operations in the UK but whose headquarters or habitual residence is abroad. Based in Birmingham and London with 45 Partners, Martineau Johnson supports foreign-origin clients in Venture and Development Capital, IP protection and Exploitation, Contract Law, Employment and Real Estate Property.

The British Midlands Development Corporation is the North American economic development agency for central England. The Midlands region is located to the northwest of London and includes the major commercial centers of Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and Northampton. As an agency funded by the UK Government, The British Midlands Development Corporation provides specialist advice and support to North American companies seeking to establish a presence or expand a current operation in the region. The British Midlands Development Corporation provides access to business networks, details about sources for grants and funding, business support services, and information to helpm companies identify opportunities to develop and grow. The British Midlands Development Corporation is based in Chicago with branch offices in Boston, Washington DC and San Jose.

Results: Seminars have been offered in 17 cities around the world with over half in North America. We are in contact with over 450 North American companies with 10 of these companies accelerating plans to visit the Midlands within the next 3-months. Over 20 new companies have located in the Midlands UK, in 2007 alone.
