His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada is a Saktyavesa avatar, meaning he was empowered by Lord Krishna to spread Gauranga’s glories. He had full faith in his Gurudeva, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati, and a heart full of compassion, otherwise why would he have boarded the Jaladuta, and suffered so much? Seasickness, two heart attacks, almost being killed by a drug addict and walking around homeless in the pits of Bowery. The first instruction that Bhakti Siddhanta bestowed upon Prabhupada was to preach all over the world, especially the West. Prabhupada was doubtful, why would people listen, when India was still in control of Britain? Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati replied, “Krishna Consciousness is not dependent on any political change. It is so important that it cannot wait for anything.” The next instruction that Bhakti Siddhanta gave Srila Prabhupada was to print and distribute books all over the world. He executed his Gurudeva and Lord Chaityanya’s mission of spreading Krishna consciousness in every town and village! He translated many books from Sanskrit to English like Srimad Bhagvatam, Bhagavad Gita, and Chaitanya Charamrita etc. He established many temples and made many devotees from all over the globe. He was just like Lord Nityananda prabhu, he also converted many Jagai and Madhais into great spiritual leaders. It is not enough to just glorify him with words. True glorification is to engage in his mission.

Srila Prabhupada was born in 1896 in Calcutta, India. He met his spiritual master Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami in 1922 in Calcutta. Prabhupada became initiated in 1933. Bhaktisiddanta convinced Prabhupada to devote his life to teaching the Vedic Knowledge. Bhaktisiddhanta then persuaded Prabhupada to broadcast the Vedic Knowledge in English. In 1944, Prabhupada single-handedly started an English magazine called Back to Godhead. Gaudiya Vaisnava Society honored Prabhupada in 1947 with the title “Bhaktivedanta”, meaning one who has both devotion and knowledge. Prabhupada then retired from married life in order to commit himself to studies and writing. He then lived and studied in in Radha Damodara Temple in Vrindavan. He began translating the Srimad Bhagvatam. In 1959 Prabhupada took sannasya (renunciant) vows. He sailed to New York City with a suitcase, an umbrella, a supply of dry cereal, about seven dollars worth of Indian currency, and several boxes of books. After almost a year of great difficulty that he established the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in July of 1966. In the span of twelve years in the United States where Prabhupada spent the rest of his life, he made accomplishments that are legacies today. He circled the globe twelve times to give lectures and founded New Vrindavan, a Vedic community in West Virginia. He even wrote sixty scriptures of the such as the Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, etc… Under Prabhupada’s guidance ISKCON grew to more than 100 schools,
