July - September 2017 Newsletter
Greeting from high above the clouds! Spring has sprung in our part of Ecuador. We are doing well and have been busy with our bible clubs and our visiting mission teams. We are so privileged to have teams come and join us in showing the love of Christ and sharing the gospel with children and their families in remote villages high above the clouds in the Southern Andes Mountains.
Village Highlight: Llaucay is one of our new villages. It’s over an hour drive outside of Cuenca. We host a “once a month” bible club in a small house church with 26 children. Meet one of our kids, Tania. She is 10 years old and has 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite subject is Science. Tania’s village has no grocery store so they grow what they eat and use the rest to barter for other needs.

3 Annual School Backpack Project: We gave out over 350 backpacks filled with school supplies, hygiene products and a complete Spanish bible. Many of you supported the project by giving money to purchase bibles or items that had to be purchased in country or sent items with a visiting mission teams. Each child was so happy to receive a backpack; it was like Christmas morning with the amount of excitement. The best part of this project is not the monetary value of the items, but that God’s word has an eternal value! These backpacks are truly a blessing to the families, so thank you for giving to this project.
We have a YouTube Channel! Please check our “Pate Ministries” YouTube channel. We update it with videos from our bible clubs and team testimonies.
Itineration Time (raising funds and ministry awareness): th st We will be in the States November 18 through January 31 . We will be traveling through Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Alabama. While our speaking engagement itinerary is almost full for Sunday mornings, we still have some Wednesday nights available to share about Ecuador Missions. If you would like us to share our ministry with a small group, missions team, individuals or just to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, we would love to meet up with you. The “gringo” fellowship is much needed and wonderful for Dena and I. While we are gone, our Ecuadorian team will continue the bible clubs, Praise the Lord!
Praise Reports: • We were able to raise the funds to build a small concrete home for the humble family of 10 in Llaucay. • The church construction in La Florida is almost complete.
