Dear I am writing to you, my constituency MP about the decision to fluoridate the water supply in Southampton and surrounding areas. This decision was made by 12 unelected board members of the Strategic Health Authority despite the opposition of 72% of respondents. I understand that you support the plans and the decision recently made by the SHA although I would like to know what you think about the principle of a public consultation when the majority view expressed by the public has been completely ignored. I am concerned at the lack of local democracy and accountability that this shows. I would like to inform you that I cannot support an MP who is in favour of forcing this scheme on an unwilling population and can therefore, no longer vote for you at future elections. I will be transferring my vote to a candidate who respects the majority view of the local people and who will raise this issue nationally and push for further debate on behalf of the electorate. Yours sincerely
