Khanna

A project by Saurabh

Life is supposed to be a peach for the knowledge worker. He has the pay and the perks one would die for- stock options, flexi-time et al. Is that the reason why knowledge professional are among the most frequent job hoppers? Or is the gravy train of the knowledge economy coming to grinding halt? Well, not yet.

Results of a survey on attrition rate and staisfaction levels show that senior IT workers are more dissatisfied with their work than their younger counterparts. The survey was carried out by NFO MBL in over 35 leading companies in India surveyed people having IT oriented jobs. While 22% in the age group of 20-25 were satisfied with their jobs, in the category of age group 31 and above zero percent of the employees were satisfied. The result also show regional differences. The dissatisfaction percentage was highest in North with 35 percent, west with 24 percent, south with 22 percent and east with zero

percent. The main reason for job satisfaction were job content, interpersonal relationships, work enviornment, training and development and communication.

The main reasons for attrition were found to be career development, job content, compensation and benefits, work practices and organizational culture. Compensation is one of the factors but not the most important.
