Indiana Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) – Indianapolis iaswcd.org – ICP Member - Across Indiana, 92 Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) - one in every county - help Indiana residents to conserve l&, water, forests, wildlife & related natural resources that encompass our state's 23 million acres. The IASWCD & local SWCDs strive to coordinate assistance from available sources - public & private, local, state & federal - in an effort to develop locally driven solutions to natural resource concerns. An Internship with the St. Joseph County SWCD, as a member of the Indiana Conservation Partnership, and a close partner with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) can open many doors for you...

QUALIFICATIONS Any natural science or agriculture major who has studied in the field of Natural Resources. Must be a currently enrolled student.

POSITION Technical Assistant/Environmental Education Assistant Internship

DESCRIPTION Assist in surveying, designing practices, construction checks, assist with field checks for USDA programs, assist educator with newsletters, programs, etc.

LOCATION Soil & Water Conservation Service/USDA Service Center of St. Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana

START DATE The internship will start at the end of May or beginning of June 2010 for a total duration of 9 weeks.

SALARY AND TAXATION $5,000 (9 weeks) - Taxes are the responsibility of the intern.
