Kandersteg International Scout Centre is one of the largest and most well known scout centres in the world. Every year, the centre welcomes up to 10’000 youngsters from all over the world for about 55’000 nights. The guests can chose from extensive programme activities and catering offers. From autumn 2002 we are seeking to fill the position of Camp Director. The Camp Director is responsible for the successful running of the centre, reporting to the Kandersteg International Committee. Thereby he/she is setting into action the Committee’s strategy for an ideal operation of programme, services and finances. A team of up to 50 employees (some permanent, some voluntary) supports the director in his/her task. Together they provide an attractive offer for our guests. Other important tasks of the director are the management of employees, the organisation and supervision of administrative, financial and marketing activities, as well as taking care of the extensive local and international relations, including the participation in various projects for the European Scout Region as well as for the World Bureau in Geneva. You are a young leader who has excellent communication abilities, understands operational economics and can operate well in an NPO (Non-Profit Organisation) environment. You enjoy motivating a young team by focussing on objectives in order to ensure the best possible guest service and outstanding guest experiences. Your competent attitude enables you to represent the centre to its advantage at local & international levels, both within & outside of Scouting. Your age is about 25 - 40. You have a graduate level of education, team leading experiences, a high level of self competence and confidence, good knowledge of written and spoken English and German and good know-how about user software (like word, excel, power point). Your are ready to work irregular hours and to be present on a higher than average level in high seasons. Residency in Kandersteg is a must. It is an advantage if you have a background in scouting, experiences in tourism, people management, knowledge in other languages and further business related education.
