This is not a message that will be openly received by a church at ease, filled with traditions and doctrines of men. One that is worldly and rich, having need of nothing, and has never known persecution. The lukewarm will not appreciate God’s, “Baptism of Fire (Lk 12:50)” due to the shame of their nakedness (sin) and blindness (deception). This is a message that will only make sense when one has truly embraced the Lord with a mature living faith having put SELF aside.

You will never realize your true destiny in God until you stop trying to avoid your witness in Him. Luke 9:23, “And he (Jesus) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” 1 Peter 2:21, “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:”

Devotion: Much like the world, popular Christendom likes to come up with witty feel

good sayings/fads which can be mass marketed and sold as all sorts of trinkets and paraphernalia. Perhaps you have heard of the phrase, “What would Jesus do (WWJD)?” Supposedly when one finds oneself in an unsure situation, they just evoke this spiritual test to determine the correct course of action (or they could listen to the Holy Spirit). Unfortunately, the remedy is only as good as the devotion of the practitioner. In actuality, those who wear the necklaces and bracelets would have to evoke the test to such a degree every time the television is turned-on that they would have to stop watching it, and I do not think this has been the case (but I pray it would be). For most, this will become yesterday’s pet rock idea that will be considered a bit too restrictive to one’s self-will. Many get caught up in speculative reasoning which no doubt varies from one to another and is certainly highly influenced by the whims of the flesh (depending on how much one wants to do the thing in question). Rather than wonder what Jesus would do, have we not missed the obvious? Why not ask, “What did Jesus do?” What Did Jesus Do? Did you know? Jesus was sent of another but eagerly came. Did not speak His own words; did not perform His own works; submitted to another’s will (putting His will totally aside); forsook the things of the world – having only the clothes on His back; was persecuted by the religious; and traveled the “Way of the Cross” resulting in His Interested? Read on… laying down His physical life for you.

Jesus often used the term, “follow me” and he certainly set the proper example. It would be very wise of us to take note of how Jesus walked and apply the same devotion in our lives. Many believers are content to live out their natural lives sitting on a pew, on certain days, in a large religious structure listening to non-offensive, politically-correct, feel-good messages. The fact is that the message that Jesus brought was very offensive to most, particularly the religious. John 3:19-20, “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” Further - Matthew 10:3436, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.” The truth of God’s Word separates. Luke 21:17, “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.” There will not be big crowds where the truth is really spoken – just devoted By what authority doest thou these followers. things? Repent, put SELF aside and follow Christ daily! – A living faith! The message: John 14:12, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

Follow - To obey; to observe; to practice; to act in conformity to. To go after faithful! (adhere to) or behind in a journey, but in the same direction (as in keeping your eyes/heart fixed upon the example or set pattern of Jesus). To imitate (copy – be the same as). To move on in the same course or direction. To be led or guided by; as, to follow a track or course. To embrace; to adopt and maintain Christ’s example (down the narrow path). To continue pursuit or endeavor; to persevere. It is our duty to follow the commands of Christ - Good servants follow the directions of their master. 1 John 2:6, “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” John 10:4, “And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.” Sheep follow, goats must be driven! John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” Ephesians 5:8, “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:” He that is of God heareth God’s words! Choose: Following Christ is equated to a narrow, infrequently traveled path which leads to eternal life (Matthew 7:14). Following the course of the world is equated to a broad, popular well traveled path which leads to everlasting damnation (Matthew 7:13). The sad fact is that few choose to travel this narrow path even though it is open to all, most just follow their carnal desires. Luke 13:23, “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” Many hope to enter the gate, but have no desire to journey down the path. What hinders you from entering the narrow gate and traveling this narrow path? Let us examine Jesus Christ’s walk, our example – the one we are to follow, and you decide! Note: The author does not intend to give the impression that we will obtain the same merits as Christ (in following) for all who read this have sinned and he alone is truly worthy (without sin). Luke 6:40, “The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.” We are further told in Matthew 10:25 that a disciple shall be as his master and a servant as his lord. Who says we have to be perfect? Jesus did – Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” The main point here is that Jesus often said, “follow me.” Where was Jesus going? A majority of “American believers” may fit into this belief group #1, but would not necessarily acknowledge it even if confronted with facts. The content of this pamphlet may be of use and help you determine if you fit into this group, if you honestl seek to know the truth .

Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 10:38, “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”

Jesus’ Path – The Way of the Cross God the Father sent Jesus the Son so that we (man) might have reconciliation to Himself through the Son. Jesus eagerly left the glories of heaven to perform the Father’s will. Jesus put His very “being (Godhood)” aside to fulfill the Father’s plan for mankind. In doing so, Christ knew that He would face persecution, rejection, torture, “penalty of our sin (filth),” and death but came anyway! Adam chose self over God’s will, Jesus chose John 8:42,God’s “Jesus said unto them,self! If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I will over proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.” John 16:28, “I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.” Obedience motivated by John 3:17, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world love He sent unto them his son, saying, They will through him might be saved.” reverence my son. – Matthew 21:37

John 10:30, “I and my Father are one.”

John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” 1 John 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” Jesus is the Word!- He quoted it John 12:44-45, “Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.” Blessed Jesus left His absolute power and authority in heaven and was born as a man. The Father sent Him and He willingly complied. We are now to put our lives aside (die to SELF) and 1serve Thessalonians 2:12, “That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto Jesus his kingdom and glory.” Emptied of self-sufficiency and self-confidence John 12:26, “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.” We John 13:13, “Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.”

Follow! Conformed to Christ’s image - the firstborn among many

This is what life’s all about for those who love the Lord – conforming to the very image of Christ. When we are obedient to Christ (Doers of His Word) and are led by the Holy Spirit we change! We abide in Christ and bear fruit meet for repentance (Mat Chapter 15, Acts 26:20). We also serve each other:Mark 10:42-44, “But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” Matthew 23:11, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Not a man

John 10:27-28, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” Jesus defines His sheep as those who he His voice and follow – these He knows! Hebrews 4:15, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Even though Jesus was God, He came to the earth as a man and had no advantage over us. In the Garden of Eden, the first man, Adam, chose his own will over God’s by rejecting God’s knowledge in favor of his own (ate from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil). This resulted in sin and deat . In order for Christ to conquer sin and death and bring reconciliation to the Father, He had to totally reject his own will and absolutely perform the Father’s will. By living in the Father’s will, Jesus fulfilled the law and lived a perfect sinless life thus pleasing the Father. Romans 5:19, “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” This gave Jesus the victory over Satan (and sin and death) and He could proclaim: Revelation 1:18, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; Followers John 14:15 and have the keys of hell and of death.” Matthew 4:1-4, “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness The Obey! to be tempted of the devil. an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” The devil always tempts at a point of weakness. Jesus must have been very hungry after forty days without food; nevertheless He denied self to perform the will of the Father. Jesus would later state: John 4:34, “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” Satan also questioned Jesus’ divinity thereby tempting Him to prove Himself. Jesus appropriately responded with the Word of God (as we are to do) establishing His intention to live totally within the Father’s will. Jesus obeyed the Father’s will! – He Matthew 4:6-7, “And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” Again the devil appealed to any doubt that Jesus might have had as to who He was (and to His pride). Notice that the devil can quote scripture even though he misapplies it. Satan’s workers do the same (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) and we are to beware. Again, Jesus is humble/meek (does not exalt self) and responds with God’s Word. Matthew 4:8-10, “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All

these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Lastly, Jesus is tempted with great power, but puts all self interest aside and proclaims that He will serve only the Father – Praise God! Note: temptation itself is not a sin. Incorrectly responding to a temptation produces a sin. For those who seek, God provides a 1 Cor 10:13 way out. We must die to SELF and live for Christ Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved Jesus Obeyed! me, and gave himself for me.” (Read 2 Timothy 2:11) John 8:28-29, “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.” John 5:19-20, “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself Romans 15:3 doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.”

John 6:38, “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 5:30, “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” Jesus never sought earthly things – no house, lands, career, money, possessions, power, etc. Jesus never instructed His disciples to seek worldly things either – not even to build big church buildings or cathedrals. Jesus didn’t come to establish a physical kingdom but a spiritual one. Luke 17:21, “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” Jesus proclaimed that He did nothing of Himself but only that which the Father desired. This is a life where SELF has been completely put to death. Christ’s delight was found in pleasing the Father by performing the Father’s will. This was so complete that Jesus could make the following statement when facing death (and taking on the sin of the world – separation from the Father): Luke 22:42, “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” John 8:54-55, “Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and Christ pleased not - Romans 15:3 keep his saying.”

Jesus proclaimed (as a man) that he could do nothing of Himself, likewise neither can we: John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” I delight to do thy Johnwill 12:49-50, “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. John 14:10-11, “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.” As a man – John 8:26, “I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.” Adam lost, Jesus restored John 8:29, “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.” Recall: In Eden, Adam rejected God’s knowledge in favor of Mark 16:15 gaining his own. Jesus lives within God’s knowledge and rejects His own.

Luke 6:12, “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and Kneeled and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 22:41 Mark 1:35, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed prayed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Matthew 14:23, “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.” Religious prayers are said in public to be seen of men (Mat 6:5) – perhaps at Sunday go to meeting. Relationship prayers are as follows: Matthew 6:6, “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” This is intimacy between you and God. You must turn off the television (or radio) and put down the newspaper (or magazines) or any other of these common distractions and spend quality (needed) time (often) seeking God through prayer in quiet solitude. When you seek first the kingdom of God, while putting worldliness aside, you are dying to SELF and allowing Christ to increase in your life. Your life Seek God’s will in your will begin to change!

Matthew 8:20, “And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head (no house).” Jesus didn’t carry around money. Observe how Jesus paid the tax collectors: Matthew 17:27, “Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.” Am I saying that you must give up everything? Not necessarily. You should follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. Mark 10:17-22, “And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions” This man allowed his possessions to rule him rather than God.

Mark 1:10, “And straightway coming up out of the water, He (Jesus) saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:” Luke 4:1, “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Led by the Spirit Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,” Jesus depended upon the Holy Spirit to accomplish His work on earth: Acts 10:38, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Jesus came to the earth as a man. He completely yielded His will to the Father and was led of the Spirit (1 John 5:7) in all things. Jesus proclaimed fulfillment of the prophecy of Esaias by proclaiming : Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” The Spirit was upon Jesus Matthew 12:18, “Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.”

Those that follow have a John 16:13-15, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but guide:

whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. A kingdom not of this world: Jesus knew the Father’s will - that he would be the sacrifice for the sinfulness of mankind. Even so He was tempted with a worldly kingdom, yet denied himself to perform God’s will: John 6:15, “When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.” Jesus would later proclaim to Pilate: John 18:36, “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” The Father was Jesus emptied himself of His own will and went about speaking the words of the Father and doing the Father’s works. For those who were just plain undeserving? Christ gave everything He had – His very life for you! Is this not precious to you? His life wasn’t taken – He gave John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd: it !!! the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10:15, “As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for God humbled Himself – became a the sheep.” For you! John 15:13, “Greater loveservant! hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 10:17-18, “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. The way of the cross is death to ? Die to live? 1 Peter 4:1-2, “Forasmuch SELF then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves

likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.” Philippians 1:29, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;” 2 Timothy 3:12, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” Jesus Triumphed: Jesus legally triumphed over Satan. The penalty for sin is death: Romans 5:10, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” - For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The sting of death is sin (1 Cor 15:56). But…Jesus never sinned - yet Satan killed Him.

Recall Luke 22:2-4, “Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them (also John 13:27).” Satan orchestrated Christ’s death, even though all this was in God’s plan (mystery) and Jesus willingly laid down His life. Jesus was killed without legal grounds. Jesus lived the life that Adam failed to live. Jesus was totally obedient to the Father in every way and without sin! Therefore: Acts 2:24, “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.” – Death hath no more dominion over Him (Rom 6:9). Jesus paid the price of our past sin (Romans 3:25) and gives us the strength (Philippians 4:13) and ability (John 16:7) to follow Him and reconciles us to the Father (Romans 5:10). 1 Corinthians 15:25-26, “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” To destroy death, sin must be destroyed. 1 John 3:8, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” Jesus saves us from our sins (Mat 1:21). We defeat sin in our lives by abiding in Him (John Chapter 15). Just as Christ was raised, we shall be resurrected likewise (Romans 6:5, also 1 Cor 15:21). Death will be swallowed up in victory - O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (1 Cor 15:54-55)

John 8:54, “Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:” He is worthy Philippians 2:9-11, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Humble is John 3:35, “The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all Exalted! things into his hand.” Luke 10:22, “All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.” 1 Timothy 6:15-16, “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” Well done, thou good and faithful Potentate - A person who possesses great power or sway; Highest King! Supreme.

God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Whatever your situation in life, start seeking God - Right NOW! (your new #1 priority) through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said it like this: Mark 12:30, “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” Read/study God’s Word and listen to what the Holy Spirit says to you (not man), then obey. As you yield to God, your life will begin to change. Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Your desire toward God and life should be: Matthew 6:10, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth (and in my life), as it is in heaven.” Consider this: John 1:12-13, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” You must see your own inadequacies and inabilities and realize your failures (poor in spirit), hate the sin in your life and its power over you (mourn), you must humble yourself before God (meek), and you must seek to know God and serve Him and allow Him to change you (hunger and thirst after

righteousness). This is repenting – turning your back on your self-will and sinful existence and putting your trust upon Jesus as your Lord. God Himself changes you and writes His laws in your Isaiah 55:6-7 heart (Hebrews 8:10). Repent – seek the Lord while He This means you serve Him voluntarily out of love. 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be mayold be found in Christ, he is a new creature: things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” This is known as being “born again” (John 3:3). This is just THE START of following Jesus. Proceed forward – to become stagnant or not move forward is a definite sign of a rebellious heart that is not yielding self-will to the things God would do in your life (Hebrews 10:38).

You mustWord! build your life on a sure (firm) foundation – Luke 6:47-48, “Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.” Notice in the verse that there must be more than just an acknowledging of the truth but an application of it to your life. The foundation is Christ and he must be the meaning of your life. The building is not a structure or the accumulation of wealth or possessions, but is the essence of who you are. The flood which beat vehemently is the tribulations you will face. When you “follow” Christ you will be able to endure the tribulations no matter how severe – this is His

promise. If you love Jesus from the heart you’ll follow your Shepard as a lamb. If not, something else (guilt, fear) may be driving you to follow as a goat – that would miss the mark!



How do I worship/follow God?

John 4:23-24, “But the hour cometh, and now  is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father  seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” 1) What is in Spirit? John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” AND Romans 8:14, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” 2) What is in Truth? John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Recall that Jesus is The Very Word (John 1:1-4) – John 17:17, “Sanctify them (set apart) through thy truth: thy word is truth.” Therefore: We must read God’s Word and be taught  and led of His Spirit. We must apply the things we learn to our lives and live them daily. This requires a daily dying to our will and many changes in our lives. As we live this Word we begin to grow and mature. As we grow and mature and are faithful, God will open our eyes to more revelation of His Word and give us greater tasks to perform in His kingdom. We seek Jesus



And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.” Matthew 9:9, “And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. We must be willing to leave all things at Christ’s calling. Yes Lord!

Seeing the Value:Matthew 13:44, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.” The kingdom of heaven is equated with hidden treasure. When a man finds this treasure and realizes its worth, he is willing to part with everything he has to obtain it. In other words everything of value in his life becomes meaningless in comparison



Urgency?Luke 9:59-60, “And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer

me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.” This may have seemed like a reasonable request but when Christ calls there is no time or place for delay. God must take precedent in our lives. Life is found in Christ, all else leads to death. This man lacked a real zeal toward Christ’s calling. Luke

9:61-62, “And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” How many say, Lord I will follow “BUT.” One must be focused and committed to continue a work begun. Once a decision is made there can be no looking back (drawing back) or distractions. Have you made a commitment to God and allowed other distractions to interfere or take precedence?

Count the cost?

Matthew 8:19-20, “And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” Many are expecting blessings and worldly prosperity, but Christ sought none of these things and followers should not expect any different. Christ’s kingdom is not of this world.

Suffering, persecution, and tribulation is the norm for a follower. Luke 21:17, “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.” Romans 8:36, “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Not suffering? Maybe you’re ineffective? 1 John 3:13, “Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.” Matthew 24:9, “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.” Acts 14:22, “Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” 2 Thessalonians 1:4-5, “So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:” Mark 13:13, “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

Suffering of Christ?

Jesus suffered for you: He was rejected by his own people (Mark 8:31, 27:22), ridiculed (Luke 13:14); deserted by his followers (John 6:66); plotted against (Luke 22:2, John 11:50); accused of having a demon (John 8:49); blasphemed (Luke 22:65); hunted (John7:1); falsely accused (Mat 26:60); spit upon, buffeted, and smote (Mat 26:67, 27:30, Mark 14:65); mocked (Mat 26:68, 27:29, Mark 15:29, 31); betrayed by a friend (Luke 22:48, Mat 26:25); denied by his closest friends (Mat 26:74, Mark 14:50, 71); scourged (Mat27:26, John 19:1); stripped (Mat 27:28, John 19:23-24); nailed to a cross and crucified (Mark 15:25, John 19:18); and his side was pierced (John 19:34). The religious gave Him trouble from day one! Suffering for Christ? What about the followers of Christ? 1 Peter 2:21, “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:” To follow in ones steps is getting very specific and should be heeded. John 15:18, “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” Matthew 10:25, “It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub (demon), how much more shall they call them of his household?” Philippians 1:29, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;” Romans 8:17, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also

Christ requested that we take up our cross and follow Him (denying An ourselves) four times in the New Testament (Mat 16:24, Mark 8:34, 10:21, and Luke 9:23). In the book of John, “following” was put into the context of sheep obeying the familiar Shepard. Christ revealed what this meant six times in the New Testament as follows:

Losing your life for Jesus:

Matthew 10:39, “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Live for self and die! Matthew 16:25, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” Die to self and live! Mark 8:35, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for Parado my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.” x?lose his life for Luke 9:24, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will my sake, the same shall save it.” Your will or His will Luke 17:33, “Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” John 12:25, “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” A point is being made here!

Stephen Follows the Path of the (Acts, Chapters 6-7): There arose some murmuring in the Early Church because certain widows’ needs were being neglected. The Cross Apostles wanted to devote themselves to the study of God’s Word (as we all should be doing). Acts 6:2, “Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.” So the Apostles appointed men for the task of “serving tables.” Stephen who is described as full of faith and of the Holy Ghost was appointed to this duty. Now this is not a high profile position that most would desire and requires a humbling of oneself. Recall Jesus said: Matthew 23:11, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Stephen was faithful and the Lord blessed him: Acts 6:8, “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.” There soon arose certain of the synagogue (the religious) that disputed with Stephen. Acts 6:10, “And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.” Recall what Jesus had said: Matthew 10:19, “But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.” Such was the case with Stephen, Acts 6:11-13, “Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. And they stirred up the people, and the

elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:” How did Stephen respond to all of this: Acts 6:15, “And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.” Stephen then proceeds to preach through the wisdom of the Holy Ghost and brings great conviction upon his accusers. Acts 7:54, “When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.” Do you see how Stephen is following in the path of Jesus? Is the Lord pleased? Acts 7:55-56, “But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.” These religious folks did not receive this at all: Acts 7:57, 59, “Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” How did Stephen react? Did he lash out and ask God to avenge this wrongful deed? Acts 7:60, “And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Wow! Just like Jesus did. Scripture says he “fell asleep,” one must wonder if he even felt the stones that crushed his body. Did not God receive the glory – He loved not his life

even unto death – literally dying to SELF to please God. Well done good and faithful servant! During the stoning of Stephen: Acts 7:58, “…the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul (Paul).” This young man would later follow the path of the Initially Paul started out as a persecutor of the cross…. Church (Acts 8:3). He was very religious and thought he was serving God. Recall Jesus said, Paul Follows the Path of the John 16:2, “They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever Cross: killeth you will think that he doeth God service.” Jesus confronted Paul in a mighty way when he was on the road to persecute Christians in Damascus. Jesus said of Paul: Acts 9:15-16, “…for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.” Paul’s future suffering was not Jesus’ way of getting revenge on him. No! Suffering and tribulation are a natural part of every disciple’s walk (who boldly professes Christ). 2 Timothy 3:12, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” AND John 15:19, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” Everyone who truly follows Christ will suffer at the hands of the world (including Mystery Babylon). Did Jesus Words come true for Paul? 2 Corinthians 11:23-28, “Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in

labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.” Paul went back to Jerusalem one last time to plead with the religious. He had a good sense of what awaited him: Acts 20:22, “And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” From the moment he entered into the Temple the crowd grabbed him and thrust him out: Acts 21:31, “And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.” Paul was allowed audience before the people to present the gospel. Acts 22:22-23, “And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted

up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air.” From that day on Paul became imprisoned, yet had the opportunity to testify before governors, kings, and emperors. Paul was sent to Rome where he was martyred for the cause of Christ. Well done good and faithful servant! What did Paul say about all this: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Offered for God’s glory! Kept the faith with his eyes upon Jesus! Are we not instructed to do the same? The way of the cross!

A Bold Statement: John 13:36-38, “Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.” Peter knew what he meant, John 13:37, “Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake. Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.” Peter thought he could follow the path of the cross but found he was not ready. The reality of persecution and losing one’s life hit a little to close to home when it actually occurred.

Peter did not lose faith because Jesus himself had intervened earlier, Luke 22:31-32, “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose Jesus Prophesies to Peter (Shortly after Christ’s resurrection) Jesus had just asked Peter if he loved him (and to feed His sheep) once for each time Peter denied Him prior to the crucifiction. Christ then says: John 21:18-19, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.” Will you still This is so significant; Jesus has just told Peter to follow in His footsteps, the path of the cross. He has told Peter that he will physically die (be martyred) for Christ – for God’s glory, but to follow anyway! Laying down your life glorifies Peter responds: John 21:21-22, “Peter seeing him (John) saith to Jesus, Lord, and what God shall this man (John) do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.” We must be prepared to obey Christ unto death (Revelation 12:11) and

two hundred and fifty years. Most have heard of the horrible stories of Christians being thrown to lions and set ablaze on crosses. Throughout all this the church spread and grew tremendously, which seemingly defied logic. The church triumphed over Rome’s efforts to stop it, resulting in the Emperor Constantine proposing a deal to church leaders who were eager to end the persecutions. During this same time period many false leaders were arising within the church. Men who sought power, influence and control. They began laying the widespread foundation of what Jesus termed “Nicolaitans” (Rev 2:15) which means to Lord over the people. They set-up seats of authority over the people contrary to Christ’s command that to be great in the kingdom of heaven, you must be servant to all (and not to establish titles or positions of supremacy). This became as the Levitical priesthood that Jesus had abolished on the cross (Mark 15:38). Today we know this system as the clergy-laity. The truth is that all disciples have direct access to God through Christ (Eph 2:18) and are to be led of the Spirit and instructed in God’s Word (2 Tim 3:16). Under Constantine there was a combining of church and state (Mystery Babylon) and the persecution of the visible church ended. This soon plunged the true church into the Dark Ages whereby the resulting Roman Catholic and the Orthodox Church Systems became the persecutors of all those who did not yield to their absolute rule. It’s amazing, but the worst and probably longest sustained persecutions of true believers were actually carried out by those who claimed to

When the church was first established (book of Acts), it came under heavy persecution from the religious Jews. This persecution actually caused the church to grow and spread throughout the region. Almost as soon as the Jewish persecution subsided, persecution began from the Roman Empire. This persecution was severe and lasted through ten successive Caesars over a period of

represent Christ, just as Christ was killed by those who claimed to be looking for His coming. Most of us were taught in school how this country was founded by people escaping religious persecution in Europe. Throughout the history of the church, Christ has always had a remnant that would carry the torch of the testimony. Inevitably these groups would eventually tire of the persecution and seek relief. In relief they found complacency and what was once alive would eventually die (Revelation 2:4, 3:1-2). Fortunately there have always been others who would step-up and carry this precious testimony. So: What does happen when believers seek relief from governments/religious authorities from persecution? Fleshly comfort and security are gained but what has been lost? What has been compromised? Perhaps an examination of the United States of America might provide an answer. Throughout the history of this nation, the church and government have had an arrangement. The church has lived in security, protected by law, and has even enjoyed special tax status. Churches have multiplied across the land and are literally located on every block. The new trend is super mega-churches. There is a type of Christian culture flourishing with television, magazines, schools, entertainment, sports, etc. This country has exported denominations (missionaries) across the globe. So what is the problem? What has been lost – it seems so wonderful? The problem is that the United States of America is the most decadent (self-indulgent, depraved, degenerate), morally corrupt nation on the face of

the earth. Does this upset you? Examine the facts, not your emotions. The U.S. aborts its babies (murder of innocents) by the millions; glorifies every sin imaginable through its television programming and movie industry; promotes sex, homosexuality & perversion and creates & distributes the world’s pornography; is consumed with a love of violence, alcohol, and drug use; enslaves its citizens through a system of banking and credit (Federal Reserve) combined with enticements of covetousness and greed; promotes gambling; rebellious music styles which lower inhibitions; uses the majority of the world’s resources and consumes its products (therefore: what America wants the world produces and also buys); The greed and self-indulgence are unrivaled in world history; and worse – it exports immoral culture around the world. What all this is saying is that the American church is totally ineffective (even from a worldly perspective, given its size, resources, influence, etc.). The country that sends out so many missionaries is in desperate need of missionaries. The most popular toys, children’s books and movies in the U.S. all concern witchcraft and the occult. Video games (played by most youth) are saturated with themes of graphic violence, sex and the occult. Many Christian families justify participation in these things by saying its just fun make-believe. In order for the organized churches to maintain popularity and draw crowds, the message of Christ becomes weaker and less offensive to such a point that now God has just become an unconditional “Love God” with no expectations. The

churches are worldly and very representative of the culture. Americans like things quick and convenient so getting saved has been reduced down to a one line repeated prayer formula. Most are blinded having itching ears and will not endure sound doctrine but are satisfied with fables (2 Tim 4:3-4). America is the modern seat of Mystery Babylon and the book of Revelation addresses its coming fate. If you cannot discern that there is something dreadfully wrong in much of America’s denominational churches, then you need only to open your Bible and start reading it. Where is the church that Jesus described? It’s in following Him and not man. We are now at a point in God’s timetable (look at the signs in Matthew 24, Daniel, Revelation) when the world and the church is headed into the Great Tribulation. Much of the U.S. Church propagates fables of pre-tribulation raptures (those less worthy than themselves as being “Left Behind” to face tribulation) - meanwhile the Churches in China, Sudan, Indonesia, etc. suffer heavy persecution now for standing up for Christ. The people say: Isaiah 30:10, “Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:” We must be careful not to become simply “religious” and lose the very life that we have in God. The religious put great emphasis on organizations and memberships, ceremonies, doctrines (creeds, belief statements, etc.) and traditions of man. Everything seems to center around a facility/complex (or personality) and is an outward show for appearance sake. Members tend to look to leadership for most answers. Peer pressure and guilt

seem to keep things running per the status quo. Whenever I talk to someone concerning relationship with Christ, and the Holy Spirit begins to convict their heart, almost inevitably, the person will say, “I go to church” or “I need to start going to church.” This religious system that man has built has taken the place of what should be a real and very personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s a very poor substitute! When one is alive in Christ they seek to know Him by following daily, they read His Word and are taught by His Holy Spirit. They become doers of the word from the heart not compulsion. Questions or needs are brought directly to the Lord in prayer on bended needs in a quiet solitary place or searched out in His Word. Simply reading and understanding the Word is not enough, it’s the Spirit that makes alive! Let’s look at the Jewish religious system (Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees) existing at the time of Christ. They studied God’s Word constantly and were expert at it. They had an impressive Temple and a system of synagogues to worship in. They appeared very religious and good on the outside (Mat 23:27-28). They said long public prayers (Mark 12:40); gave large offerings (Mark 12:41); fasted (Mat 6:16); wore priestly clothing and had fancy titles (Mat 23:5, 7); and they evangelized (Mat 23:15); Does this sound like church? Jesus said, Matthew 5:20, “For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” They looked great on the outside but their hearts were basically wicked and unchanged (unconverted). They had religion, not relationship. They had laws with no

love or compassion. The true church will have Christ as the Head (Eph 5:23) and one body with many members (1 Cor 12:12) that support each other through various giftings/functions (1 Cor 12) and offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:5). The religious Jews killed the very Messiah they were looking for (awaiting) to deliver them! They were far from knowing God! John 18:28, “Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might Will murder and false witness eat the passover.” Something is dreadfully wrong here: The religious Jews had so missed God that they were in the defile? very process of killing God’s own Son, yet they were still concerned about their religious observance of the Passover (which was symbolic of Jesus). What good did their religion do them? Had it positively affected their hearts in any way? Even if Jesus was not God’s Son, they would be knowingly violating commandments concerning false witness and murder against an innocent victim. This is how religion clouds the mind (John 4:23-24) and blinds the eyes (John 9:39). Matthew 27:3-6, “Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that

to us? See thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. Do we view Christ’s forgiveness as precious or do we use it as justification to continue in sin (Rom 6:15, Gal 2:17) – the very thing God hates! We are mocking God to ask for salvation while cherishing and living in sin. Has this religion affected our lives in a positive way? Do we live Christ’s Words daily (Luke 9:23)? Do we follow Him? Change the inside – Outside will follow Jesus said if He is lifted up then He will draw all men to Himself (John 12:32). Instead, we lift up religion and draw all men into an institution. Spiritual growth in the life of a Christian is determined by the measure of the increase of Christ and the decrease of Self (John 3:30).

Tribulation is

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” Please note: The falling away will not be from the organized churches and not necessarily denying Christ. The falling away will be from the truth of God’s Word. Many churches will be going strong during tribulation and will most likely be involved in persecuting the true believers as part of some One World Religion. Many churches now accept all sorts of Biblical error such as homosexuality, abortion, divorce, open sinfulness, worldliness, hirelings (including women), etc. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12, “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness .” Do not be deceived: Matthew 7:15-16, 15:16-20, 24:4-5, 11, 24, Mark 13:5-6, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, Revelation 13:13-14, Deuteronomy 13:3, Acts 20:29 2 Timothy 3:5, “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

Is coming and the church will go through it as a refining fire of God to make ready the Bride of Christ (glorious and holy – without spot, blemish or wrinkle). The wheat will be separated from the tares (weeds), but even so, much deception will abound – the wise will understand. God in His great mercy is going to pull many from their worldliness (perhaps kicking and screaming) during this time. This will be a time of affliction and great trial. God’s wrath will fall upon the wicked. The righteous will be tried and purified. This will be such a time of trouble that if it were not cut short, no one would survive. Many soiled and filthy garments will be washed and made white. The persecution and tribulation are truly necessary and will accomplish God’s purposes. Make no mistake, God is in control! That which is holding back Satan will be removed and the devil will be given much more leverage (hedge removed) to afflict the world (as he was granted individually with Job). He will bring forth his son (antichrist) together with a false religious system and will rule the earth for a short period of time. The purifying of God’s people may require your physical life. Jesus will preserve some during this time: Revelation 3:8, 10, “…hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” All others who profess Christ but have not been faithful will require refining. Those who do not repent and overcome will face God’s wrath.”

Foreshadowing Pharaoh/wilderness similar to Antichrist/tribulation :God took the Hebrews out of Egypt by His strong hand, but how did God take the Egypt out of

the Hebrews hearts? Deuteronomy 8:2-8, “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee. Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;” Many were removed due to disobedience

Many who profess Christ have become comfortable in the world and rebellious toward God. The tribulation will be a great trial to prove the heart and see who fears God – its coming! We are to learn first hand that man does not live by bread alone, but by total faith in God and His Word.

The New World System – A separation is God, in His mercy, is going Coming! to separate the true church from the world during the great tribulation. Many may initially go reluctantly (as Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah) but a separation will be forced. The Bride (church) will become glorious and holy – spotless without wrinkle or blemish during this period. How will the separation Revelation 13:11,16-17, “And I beheld another beast occur? (False Prophet – religious leader) coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”Choose whom ye He comes as a lamb - Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, which will comeserve! to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Revelation 13:12, “And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast (world leader) before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.” To accept the mark is to give total allegiance to the world leader and reject the One True God. Those that accept this mark are damned for eternity! Live for self and die, die to self and live Revelation 14:9, “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same

shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”Better to lose this life than die

What if I Do Not Accept the eternally! You will be totally separated from the world’s Mark? system. God in His mercy does for you what you may never do for yourself – He separates you from the things of the world. No more money (bank/401k accounts), entertainments, houses, possessions, medical, etc. You will now have to rely totally upon God for your very life. In other words you must die to your will and control of things and absolutely perform and depend upon God’s will. Followers of Christ will finally understand what Jesus meant when he said, Luke 9:23, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” The way of the cross is death to self

Many who now profess Christ will accept the mark. The cost will be too great for them – loosing all the things (temporal) they worked their whole lives for. Besides, the religious community (big churches, TV ministers) will tell them it is OK. They’ll justify it somehow. all about deception God will send a strong delusion – they willIt’sbelieve a

The book of Revelation The Bride is Christ’s church that he is coming for. Those members will wear white which is symbolic of purity (Holiness, righteousness). These righteous robes come at a price. The Bride gains victory over the beast and harlot in a paradoxical way. The Bride lays down her life – just as Jesus did on the cross. The Bride says, “Thy will be done” to God in total obedience. The Bride forsakes the world (and its mark) and chooses submission to God – reversal of the Garden of Eden.

The Bride is God-

The harlot is man’s religious centered! institutions which prostituted with worldly governments and developed over centuries which will culminate in the visible worship of Satan (through MUCH deception). This is openly thriving today although most eyes are blinded to it! Let’s look at how the harlot religious system is arrayed: Dainties of the world Revelation 17:3-5, “So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

Babylon is clothed in gaudy, purple and scarlet colours, with gold, precious stones and pearls. Babylon desires to deck herself with the glory and things of this world. Babylon is a mystery to many people, because she claims to follow Jesus. Can’t you just hear her say, you can’t out-sin God? Or God accepts you no matter what you do! – such filthiness. How about name it and claim it. She fornicates with the world. The harlot is great whereas the bride is holy. Babylon may be interested in evangelism, religious ceremony/buildings and social work – she seeks greatness and worldly honour. But she has no interest in holiness. What men esteem highly is an abomination to God (Luke 16:15) – possessions, wealth, education, societal position, big cathedrals, programs, influence, traditions, musical talent, self-righteousness. (Mark 12:38-40, Luke 18:11, Matthew 6:1-2, 5-7, 16-18). Religion is man-centered Babylon’s immorality is seen in the fact that she claims to represent Christ and yet lives by the principles of the world and seeks to be great in the world. That is how her cup becomes full of abominations. Babylon has persecuted and slain those who truly seek to serve and obey God (through the centuries). It has literally killed or killed by the tongue and its writings. Babylon is the broad path whereas the true church (bride) is the narrow. You must understand that Babylon will claim to represent Christ and will manifest some outward goodwill. The difference is in following God’s Word and not a form of it. Study and know the

We are to walk in Christ’s footsteps and conform to His image: Serve Jesus, the Lord and Master (priority in life) and then each other with Love. Deny SELF (die to) and end all selfish rebellion against God and seek His will alone. Study God’s Word and apply it (walk in it, do it) daily. Grow in knowledge & wisdom. Pray to God always, often seeking a quiet place. Be filled, taught and led of the Holy Spirit. Serve God from the heart. Forsake all worldliness. Be ye separate (2 Cor 6:17). Be giving and forgive others their trespasses.

Suffer rejection, persecution & tribulation for Christ’s sake. Pray for your enemies. Obey Jesus and keep His commandments. Stop sinning -there is forgiveness but not license. Love not your life unto death. Do not fear man. Abide in Christ – endure! Boldly confess Christ before men and be a light for all to see. Share the Gospel! Examine your heart often – Ask God to do the same – make corrections.
