“St. Francis Xavier, a welcoming faith community lovingly sharing the gifts of God.”
BAPTISM
OF THE
LORD
JANUARY 11TH, 2009 PRAYERS: We pray for our loved ones who have died, especially Todd Godin and for all those who have asked for us to pray for them in times of grief and illness. THE YEAR OF ST. PAUL “A special year will be dedicated for the Bimillennium Celebrations of the Birth of the
Apostle Paul. This Pauline Year will run from June 28, 2008 to June 29, 2009” Pope Benedict XVI We will celebrate this Pauline Year with a Parish Mission during Lent. It will be facilitated by Father Rick Walsh – a member of the Paulist Community in Toronto. Third Journey This journey can be considered one of strengthening. Paul revisited the Churches he created in Anatoly and Greece, together with Timothy and Titus. He sailed again to Tyre, Caesarea and Jerusalem, where he was arrested.
The Journey in Captivity His voyage to Rome as a prisoner was not a missionary journey; nevertheless his activity as an evangelizer did not cease to continue. (continued next week)
Parish Directory: This year and in an ongoing way, we will be seeking your coco-operation in our effort to have a photo record of our our parishioners. This will not be of any cost to you – there will be opportunities pportunities for you to have your picture no “sale of pictures”. We will however, provide several o taken. Eventually, our parish data system will include these photographs. We respect your desire for privacy and assure you that they are exclusively a way of identifying with the Parish Family. Photographers will be available to take your picture this weekend after Masses and 1 hour before Mass as well as after Mass the following 2 weekends.
RENFREW VICTORIA HOSPITAL:
The Renfrew Ministerial recently held a joint meeting with representatives of Renfrew Victoria Hospital staff. As well, we conclude that we are fortunate to have such a committed staff and professional service to meet our health care needs in Renfrew. The staff are very supportive of “our” desire to be there for “your spiritual support” in a time of need. We would ask that you personally, or through family and/or friends inform your pastor of your being in the hospital and/or seeking assistance in any way.
∆ PARISH SUPPER ∆: What a pleasure to inform you that we have everyone in place to co-ordinate the annual Parish Supper. Thanks to our recent co-ordinators, the Connors and Shirley McCanna. They are handing all over to Louise Neville and John Tracey who, with their support are so willing to lead us forward. Thanks also to you – our always willing workers. At our upcoming planning meeting we have a big question to address – “How do we deal with so many willing parishioners who want to help – yet fewer and fewer people come out to the Parish Supper?” Thanks to those who have made suggestions – we will be exploring them all at our meeting on January 26th. If you have any insights please send them in. INCOME TAX RECEIPTS: We thank you for your ongoing generosity to sustaining the ministries and facilities here at St. Francis Xavier Parish. Any donations received or deposited after December 31st, 2008 will be credited to your 2009 income tax receipt. Income tax receipts for the year 2008 will be ready some time during the next few weeks. To obtain a receipt, simply put a stamped, selfaddressed envelope in the collection basket and it will be mailed to you.
