Curriculum Vitae James Harry Martins DOB 3/9/86 Introduction/application to potential work area environments I am 22 years of age with experience in the working environment. I have worked in office and studio based environments in the printing industry over the course of the past 2 years. I was previously employed by Surrey Envelopes in South Wimbledon as a Mac operator/Reprographics Planner and was unfortunately made redundant due to the ever growing effect of the recession. I can supply references, if so required. With this experience I have realized my potential to contribute in the area of graphic design, media or printing based environments with my passion to hopefully excel and make a valuable contribution to any prospective employer. This experience included proofing artwork sent to us by clients such as British Gas, BT, and Sky etc in the form of PDFs or ZIP files containing quark files, fonts and picture files making sure the artwork was of acceptable standard before preparing it for a print ready stage. Artwork was then sent back to the client for approval. By handling artwork the main duties carried out were to make sure 1st class, 2nd class and other kinds of PPIs along with any text such as the return address, codes or strap lines on the face of the envelope fitted on the specified size correctly. This applies to Eps and photographic (Jpeg) images that were also used occasionally. Certain jobs were single color, two, three or four color ones depending on the client’s specifications. Colors used were spot (pantone) colors or process (CMYK) whenever four color jobs were done. Experience I have experience working on a Macintosh platform, together with a working knowledge in the following applications; Adobe Photoshop, Quark Express, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign (CS3) and Acrobat Professional. In addition, I have experience working with CTP systems and software (Open rip) used when artwork was modified to a print ready phase when signed off. Quark and PDF files were relied on to perform these actions, which included deleting any unneeded information and flipping return addresses on the flaps to wrong reading so they appeared as right reading once printed, this depended on how many colors the job contained. These jobs were either single color or two colors. Three or four color jobs were kept as right reading because the machines used for these jobs could perform better actions and flipping the address wrong reading was not needed. Additional software called Pit Stop inside Acrobat was also very useful in aid of these modifications. Once the jobs were completed and ran out onto plates from the CTP processor they were then sent downstairs onto press for mass production. Before the quicker and more efficient CTP system was introduced I also had some experience in manual planning using film on light tables which was put onto plates then onto a vacuum processor. Personal Commitment I am very willing to apply myself fully to what I do and would make for an enthusiastic, reliable and loyal employee. With my experience and qualifications, I can assure any prospective employer that I would be very trust worthy and committed to what ever came my way. My passion for the business in regards to creativity and modern approach is second to none and is something I crave very much to be involved in.
