Your name, please?. asked the policeman, taking out his notebook and pen. Certainly, officer,. replied the driver. .I am Horatio Xerxes Laertes Idomeneus Aeneas Asclepius Iphicles Menoeceus Memnon Philoctetes Tyndareus Hylas.. A tea manufacturer wanted a new advertising gimmick, so the senior creative man at the advertising agency decided to go to Rome to see if he could persuade the Pope to make a TV commercial. We’ll give you one hundred thousand pounds for a ten second commercial,. the adman told the pontiff. All you have to say is: Give us this day our daily tea... I’m sorry,. replied the Pope, .but I can't do that.. Five hundred thousand,. offered the adman. I’m afraid not,. said the Pope, solemnly. All right. One million pounds. And that's our very last offer.. But still the Pope refused. On his way back, disappointed adman turned to his secretary and said: .It’s odd that the Pope refused to do a commercial for tea. I wonder how much the bread people are giving him..

A Professor's Hammer When we find it hard to accept what God permits in our lives, usually it's because we have forgotten that he is both Lord and Savior. When it's hard for us to obey Church teaching or to follow God's will, it's usually for the same reason. The story is told of a huge atomic energy plant that was malfunctioning. None of the plant's engineers and scientists could figure out the cause of the trouble. Finally, an eminent professor in the field was summoned from his university for consultation. The professor surveyed the situation and then asked for a hammer. He took the hammer in hand, walked over to a pipe and struck it a heavy blow. Immediately, the plant began functioning again: everything was back in working order. Later, he submitted an itemized bill for his services in the amount of $5,005. It read as follows: "for striking the blow, $5; for knowing where to strike the blow, $5000." The engineers wanted to save the plant from destruction, but they didn't have the knowledge or the power to do so. The professor had the knowledge and the power, but he needed the engineers to call him in. Christ is both the engineer and the professor. He wants our lives to flourish with lasting happiness, wisdom, and all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. And he also knows how to make that happen. And so, whatever God asks of us or sends us, no matter how hard it may be, flows from both his love as our Savior and his power as our Lord. Courtesy to www.epriest.com

The ABC's of Divine Mercy We all need to be reminded of these difficult truths, because life in this world can get distracting. And the reminder he is giving us today will bear fruit in our lives if we follow the ABC's of the Divine Mercy. A. Ask for mercy. The best way to ask for his mercy for ourselves is through the sacrament of confession, entrusted to the Church about 2000 years ago. Here is what Jesus told St Faustina about confession: When you approach the confessional, know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you.

I am only hidden by the priest, but I Myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy. (Diary, 1602)

But we can also ask for mercy for others, especially by praying for those who don't trust or believe in Christ's mercy. B. Be merciful. • Jesus told St Faustina, "I demand from you deeds of mercy... You are to show deeds of mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere."

Who is Jesus to me? the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the

Word made flesh Bread of Life Victim offered for our sins on the cross Word - to be spoken Truth - to be told Way - to be walked Life - to be lived Love - to be loved Joy - to be shared Sacrifice - to be offered Peace - to be given Bread of Life - to be eaten Hungry - to be fed thirsty - to be satisfied Naked - to be clothed Homeless - to be taken in Sick - to be healed Lonely - to be loved To be continued…

This means doing good things for others not because they deserve it or to get a reward, but simply in order to follow in the footsteps of our merciful Lord. • But where can we find the strength to do that? C. Completely trust in Jesus. • Jesus himself will give us his grace, if we let him. He will make us into ambassadors of his mercy, just as he did with the first Apostles. • Whenever we are afraid to Ask for mercy, when we feel too weak to Be merciful, we should simply pray the prayer that Jesus told St Faustina to write underneath the image of his Divine Mercy: "Jesus, I trust in you." • And let's start right now, during this week’s Mass, when we receive the fountain of mercy himself in Holy Communion. • Nothing would please him more.

Saint George of Lydda (ca. 275/281 – April 23, 303) was according to tradition,[2] a Roman soldier in the Guard of Emperor Diocletian, venerated as a Christian martyr. In Christian hagiography Saint George is one of the most venerated saints in the Anglican Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Churches, and the Eastern Catholic Churches. He is immortalised in the tale of George and the Dragon and is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. His memorial is celebrated on 23 April. He is regarded as one of the most prominent military saints. St. George is the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia, as well as the cities of Amersfoort, Beirut, Bteghrine, Cáceres, Ferrara, Freiburg, Genoa, Ljubljana, Gozo, Pomorie, Qormi, Lod and Moscow, Scouting, as well as a wide range of professions, organizations and sufferers from disease.
