You should have lived in Jamaica for a minimum of five (5) years immediately preceding submission of the application.



You should be of good character and be financially solvent.

Procedure •

The application should be made (in duplicate) on Naturalisation Form N1, which is obtainable at the Jamaica Printing Services, 77 Duke Street, Kingston.



Read the form carefully, complete it, and have it signed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace, a Notary Public or someone authorised to administer Oaths.



Four (4) references are required as sponsor of the application. These persons should be Jamaican by birth and should not be Civil Servants, relatives. Lawyers or agents of the applicant.



Before submitting the application, notice of your intention to apply for Naturalisation must appear in a daily newspaper. An example of the advertisement is set out on the final page of the application form. This notice should be published on two (2) separate occasions at least one (1) week apart and should be submitted along with the application.

Once you have satisfied the above, the application should be submitted at the : Immigration , Citizenship and Passport Division, Ministry of National Security 25 Constant Spring Road, Kingston 10, Jamaica W. I. Tel: +876 - 906 1497 or +876 906 4474 accompanied by the following documents: Documents •

Birth Certificate and any other evidence of nationality



Passport on which you originally entered Jamaica



Current Passport (if different)



Work Permit or Exemption Certificate



Evidence of Community activities in which you may be involved, e.g. Service Club, etc.



Two (2) passport-sized photographs certified by a Justice of the Peace



Tax Compliance Certificate

The fee of naturalisation is Ten Thousand Dollars (J$10,000.00) which is paid as follows: •

A non-refundable initial deposit of Two Thousand (J$2,000.00)



Eight Thousand Dollars (J$8,000.00) payable to the Accountant General once the application is approved.



There is an additional cost of Fifty Dollars (J$50.00 ) which is payable to the Stamp Office as Stamp Duty on the Certificate of Naturalisation.
