Dear Mr. Cusick: I am writing to express my interest in and request consideration for the upcoming vacancy of Commissioner Macleod’s position on the Board. I reside in District 3 in Thurston County. Currently, I serve as Vice-Chair for the Surface and Stormwater Advisory Board for the Thurston County representing Cooper Point. Most of my work in the last few years has been in Mason and Jefferson counties working as a government liaison for the Skokomish Indian Tribe. The skills I bring include the ability to facilitate dialogue, find common ground even in conflicting situations, and create and maintain a collaborative environment to build bridges, relationships and community. I have over 15 years working closely with ranchers, farmers, local governments and tribes on rural, land management issues at the grassroots level. Most recently, I volunteered my time lobbying for environmental legislation at the state level that also protected rural values. My two proudest accomplishments are first, being interviewed for the book, Beyond the Rangeland Conflict: Toward a West that Works and second, invited to become a member of the Skokomish Valley Grange Hall even though I live in Thurston County. It is with honor that I have worked closely with Commissioners Phil Johnson and David Sullivan of Jefferson County as well as all three of the current County Commissioners of Mason County and past commissioners John Bolender and Jayni Kamin. All would attest to my capacity and character as an individual to serve as County Commissioner for Thurston County. And finally, PUD Commissioners for both Mason and Jefferson County PUD #1 have worked closely with me. It is with honor that I request consideration in the fulfillment of this important position.
