SADHANA DESAI President
Once again I come back to you to extend a warm and cordial invitation to attend International Congress on “The Ovary Unraveled" from December 11-13, 2009. The Congress will be held in the vibrant city of Mumbai, which has always been in the forefront of academics in India. In recent years, strategic advances in Assisted Reproductive Technology, Imaging Sciences, Operative Endoscopy and Pharmacological Therapies have made significant progress in the management of the infertile couple. What was thought to be untreatable is now routinely investigated and successfully treated. Infact, there exist very few absolute cases of infertility in the 21st century. The scientific committee has worked very hard while developing the programme with two facts in mind: - to give a platform to renowned international and national research workers who have contributed towards advances in the superspeciality and to display the astounding rapid developments occurring in the area of management of Infertility. The scientific deliberations will be of immense interest to both the beginners and the experts. All that is successful will be highlighted by our faculty. All that is controversial will be debated and discussed in the panel discussions.

Special emphasis has been given to the 10 pre-congress & post-congress workshops by ensuring that the faculties introducing the subjects are the eminent specialists in their respective fields. I am sure; you will be able to add new names to the list of leading physicians and scientists who will take the subject forward towards new frontiers in the future.
w w
I am confident that, after attending the congress, you will go back home with a lot of new ideas, procedures and developments. The conference will surely impart prudent and relevant carry home messages for all of you.
The trip to Mumbai will be definitely pleasant, weather-wise and socially and personally relaxing. The Renaissance Hotel provides a luxurious ambience in lap of greenery away from the hustle bustle of the city. We have provided attractive accommodation packages for all of you who wish to stay at the venue itself and enjoy the facilities. It will be scientific and technological landmark - this has been our concept and we hope our results will match it. We are looking forward to your visit and participation.
With warm regards, Dr. Sadhana Desai President, ISAR

The highlights of the Conference include 6 Pre-Congress Workshops on December 11th 2009 on topics that have long bogged reproductive medicine and hampered its success, and fresh strategies with the potential to take the practice to newer, yet safer, dimensionsRepeated IVF failures, comprehensive insights into the evaluation and management of Endometriosis, Stimulation Protocols, the Oocyte and Hands on Laparoscopic Suturing and Operative Hysteroscopy among them. This shall be followed by The Conference Oration on a disorder that often carries its unpleasant trails from birth to senescence-The Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and the ethical and cultural debate that ART has unprecedently landslided into. As we journey through the scientific programme on December 12th and 13th, we will endeavor to expose you to an international assemblage of authoritative and pragmatic views on the present and future, the dilemmas and experiences in the management of ovarian pathology, innovations, applications and limitations in monitoring ovarian function, and the significant role of lifestyle modifications in fertility.

GAUTAM ALLAHABADIA MOGS-PRESIDENT
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the Global Conference in Reproductive Medicine, jointly organized by ISAR - Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction and Mumbai Obstetric and Gynecological Society (MOGS), here at The Renaissance Mumbai Hotel in evidently the warmest, liveliest, and most spirited cities, to perhaps the most contemporarily significant and inspiring themes 'The Ovary Unraveled'. Despite the undaunted progress in reproductive technology to dimensions that have transgressed natural, cultural and ethical boundaries, here is an organ whose significance has undeniably escalated with the increasing technological applications. The motive of this Conference is to bring the most debatable and pressing problems that focus on the ovary and surmount infertility practice to the forum of discussion, unravel the presumed mysteries that mist a clear perception of the etiology, pathophysiology and management of related disorders, present cutting edge technology in assisted reproduction, imaging, cellular and molecular biology, and glean outdated knowledge.
In an era where the lightening pace of technology and its successful applications have superceded a careful evaluation of its implications and jumped regulatory intentions, we hope that through these stimulating lectures we shall be able to impart the necessary knowledge required to rethink, translate technology at its best to safe, effective and judicious clinical use and extend the marvels of the science across all barriers.
Quoting Confucius: 'Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous'. I look forward to meeting you in December!
Kindest, Gautam N Allahbadia President, MOGS

The birth of the baby fulfills the quest for motherhood, and establishes the couples place in society. Infertile couples need proper guidance and counseling as regards the cause of infertility and its appropriate management. With this in mind, we have planned a focused International Congress on “The Ovary Unraveled “organized jointly by Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction and Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynecological Society. The congress aims at updating the delegates with the academic advancements in clinical practice and research focused on the ovary. Infertility management has been undergoing a vast change over the last couple of decades. Modalities of treatment, which were considered only to be remotely available, are now a part of infertility management on a routine basis. Anovulation and Ovarian Pathology is responsible for 50% of female factor infertility.
During the congress, well planned sessions will enable the delegates to interact with experts and fellow delegates in areas of special interest. Sessions have been devoted to stem cell therapy, poloscopy, imaging technology, genomics and metabolomics will be made with an aim to update current knowledge, rationalize concepts and strengthen judgement. Balanced views on the explosive Third Party Reproduction, with a special interest in oocyte donation, that has come as a messiah to the childless, will be aired in the light of ethical and legal considerations so that the promising benefits of this technology can be channelized to the right use. These sessions will provide impetus to practitioners to refine their protocols and be able to offer alternative therapies to obtain optimal results.

With the improvements in biotechnology, several hurdles in reproductive medicines have been overcome. Renowned international workers who have contributed to advances in this superspeciality will be participating in the conference and sharing their own experiences. The pre-congress workshops have been planned with interactive discussion and stress on practical pointers for the benefit of all delegates. There are 6 pre-congress workshops and 4 post congress workshops.
With scientific and cultural extravaganza planned out for you, the Renaissance Convention Centre at Powai provides all modern amenities to ensure a successful conference. We are sure that after this congress, the deliberations, discussions and interaction with fellow delegates would enrich you. We have endeavored to look into all aspects of the scientific and social comforts. However, if there are any inadvertent lapses, we apologise for the same. We welcome all delegates to the city of Mumbai and hope that they will carry back fond memories of this vibrant city.

Embryo implantation failure after transfer constitutes a limiting factor in ART success. The interaction between a high quality embryo and a receptive endometrium, after an atraumatic embryo transfer is of paramount importance, yet many of these steps are still poorly understood. This workshop will aim to address issues involved in patients with recurrent failures and best management for them. 1. Identify the value of endometrial markers of receptivity in clinical practice. 2. Evaluate the steps involved in embryo implantation.

In-Vitro Maturation (IVM) Workshop Conveners: Gautam Allhabadia, Sujata Kar, Virendra Shah International Faculty:
S. L.Tan, Jose Remohi
The inconvenience, complexity, cost and risks associated with ovarian stimulation with gonadotropins for in vitro fertilization (IVF) make many patients reluctant to rely on this therapy.
09 .o rg
Thus, patients and their physicians now increasingly employ unstimulated, i.e., “natural,” ovarian cycles as a means of preparing oocytes for IVF. The emerging technique of in vitro maturation (IVM) might make natural cycle IVF more practical. The faculty will compare clinical outcomes and discuss the practical aspects application of IVM to IVF in polycystic ovary syndrome and fertility preservation along with the published clinical data.
20
Learning Objectives
1. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of the various protocols for ovarian stimulation for IVM
va

Cryobiology & Vitrification Workshop Organized by ISAR- Special Interest Group Embryology Workshop Conveners: Hrishikesh Pai, Rama Raju, Rajat Ray International Faculty : Martina Ribic Pucelj
09 .o rg
The need for an interest in fertility-preservation procedures is growing. Ovarian cryopreservation and Vitrification techniques are gaining a lot of acceptance. There is evidence today that Vitrification gives similar results as that of slow-freezing of embryos. This workshop is designed to discuss and compare the advantages and disadvantages of Vitrification and slow freezing. There is a need for an interactive discussion on the whereabouts of the technology, and the challenges it faces, both technically and ethically. The faculty will cover the practical and relevant points to help and make Vitrification easy and simple for the delegates.
20
Learning Objectives:
1. Review the indications and risks of current ovarian cryopreservation
