I’ve Seen.. I’ve seen leaves tremble when there was no wind; Something deep in ground caused trees to quiver. I’ve seen a child at play, stop and cry, to send A scary thought away or stop a sudden shiver. I’ve seen lips so twisted in a face of pain and hurt; The eyes drenched in sorrow, hands shaking in fear. I’ve seen an old man crumble, then vainly try to skirt The death of love in someone held so very, very dear. I’ve seen a woman crippled by a man who could not love Or knew not how to give for her from places deep inside. I’ve seen young ones withered from harshness without love And seek in drugs a haven in which to try and hide. I’ve tasted all the bitter that one’s anger can impose And felt the horrible, silent terror of dying all alone I hope someone knows when this, my life, does close I have loved and loved deeply. I never was of stone.
